CIRCLE of FRIENDS (Philippines)
A picket was observed at the Cebu consular office of the People's Republic of China in regards to its on-going Tibet aggression and policy. The action was initiated by the Friends for Tibet - Philippines in commemoration and support with the Tibetan people's initiatives and its world wide supporters last March 10 (2007), which is celebrated as Tibet's National Uprising Day. In Lhasa, Tibet on that day in 1959, a general uprising was undertaken by the Tibetan people to oppose China's illegal occupation of its country. Thousand were brutally killed and eventually resulted in a million Tibetans dead as caused by Chinese brutality, sickness, imprisonment and by hunger or starvation due to China's implementation of its policy on the Tibetan people. Tibet had its own language, culture, religion and a mandated government. It was never a legitimate part of China.
We would like to extend our support to the people of Tibet for its non violent struggle for self-determination.
This initial action was to coincide with the mass protest held worldwide to showcase Tibet's current situation.
The newly formed sub-group, Circle of Friends for Tibet will continue to participate and initiate direct actions
until the Chinese officials will respect the rights and will of the Tibetans. Cebu City, Philippines - 03/15/2007
Today, Tibetans (inside and outside the country) along with it's global supporters are opposing the illegal Chinese occupation and it's human rights violation against the Tibetan people. Tibet's government in exile is based in India and is headed by its titular head, HH The 14th Dalai Lama.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONCIOUSNESS
“When the Mother Earth is sick and the animals dying there will come a Tribe of Peoples from all Cultures who believe in deed,
not words, and they will restore the Mother Earth to her former beauty. This Tribe will be called The Warriors of the Rainbow.”
Based in the central Visayas region of the Philippines, CoF was first setup in the late 2004, to help emphasized the situation on Cebu's (Province) delicate environmental problems. Focusing on the importance of preserving it's highly endangered remaining endemic forest, mangroves and wildlife, whatever is left of it. See 'CoF-Enviro Concern' or the other earth friendly links below.
During the late 2006, a 2nd front 'CoF-Tibet' was setup to support the Tibetan people's struggle for self determination. The Tibet issue would always come out in our circle of disscussion which later prompted the March 10 action.
We would like to invite those who share the same sentiments, (either/both the environmental or the Tibetan issues) to please join us in our future actions/projects here in the queen city of the south. The group's current priority and endeavor is to rise the awareness of the Filipino people about the current political situation in Tibet, a free country before being invaded thru force by the People's Republic of China. We join the Tibetans in their determination for self rule and to continue with their unique culture and religion without foreign (Chinese) interferance.
In solidarity with all the Tibetans who are at the forefront of this resistance since the communist Chinese occupation in 1950's, to the peacefull mass protest actions being held todate. We remenber all those who have lost and given their lives for this endeavor.Keeping both issues alive...
