Biography - Edward "Ed" T. Ryan, 87, resident of Tucker, Georgia since 1968 passed away at home on April 2, 2009.

Born in Champaign, Illinois on December 9, 1921 to the late Rose Jane Ryan and Edward Travis Ryan. Ed was an avid sportsman playing basketball, tennis and teaching fencing. He attended the University of Illinois and was a member of the tennis and fencing teams there. He was dedicated to his country, the U. S. Military, and the Army Air Corps serving for 4 1/2 years during WW II. He was an accomplished musician with the trombone, trumpet, bugle and harmonica. The childhood accomplishment he was most proud of was his perfect attendance in his Lutheran Sunday School class for five years. With his quick wit and mathematical mind, Mr. Ryan spent his working career in the computer industry and ran his own company for 16 years selling and supporting computers and software to over 70 independent pharmacies in metro Atlanta.

He will be lovingly remembered for his love of family, generosity, his everlasting sense of humor, and the stories he loved to tell. Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Ryan; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennie & Dave Lockin of Lilburn, Melinda & Dennis Herman of Dunwoody; sons, Jeff Ryan of Tucker, David Ryan & daughter-in-law, Audrey Ryan of Lawrenceville; and 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The funeral service was held on Friday, April 10, 2009 in the Lowndes & McLane Chapel with Rev. Danny Odom officiating. Interment, Arlington Memorial Park.
