Suzz asks: To the both of you: Where do you film your TV series for both shows, "All That" and "Kenan and Kel"?
Kel says:"Kenan and Kel" is filmed in Orlando Florida at Nickelodeon Studios.
Kenan says:"All That" is filmed at the Aquarius Theater in Hollywood. Oh and everybody watch on Nov. 15 because that 's going to be the debut of the new 40s opening. You'll get to see the new opening.
Sabrina asks: Say I wanted to be discovered, how would I go about doing that?
Kenan says:Go on as many auditions as you can.
Kel says:Always follow your dreams, a lot of people are going to try to stop you, but you can do it. Start off in the theater.
Kenan says:And also do a lot of plays, it's a fun experience.
Rupam asks: Is Kel short for anything? Is that your birth name?
Kel says:It's my birth name, and my whole name is Kel Johari Rice Mitchell.
Izzy asks: How old is Josh Server and is he as cool as he seems? Are you a lot like the characters you portray on "Kenan and Kel"?
Kenan says:He's 18. He's tops.
Kel says:He's top notch, man.
Kenan says:My character is like me to the twentieth degree. I'm not as extreme, but I do scheme a little bit, that's my nature. He goes through the things that I just think about; he just does the stuff.
Kel says:I'm nothing like "Kel". He's just goofy. I'm just a nice lovable guy. But women love us.
Rupam asks: This question is for both of you. I wondered if your parents were shocked when you told them you wanted to be actors or did they expect it?
Kel says:Well I was always outgoing, a class clown. I used to do cartwheels to throw something in the garbage. A little trouble maker. My mom and dad put me into something, because I was always experimenting with everything. They figured that he's cutting up in school, he makes us all laugh, he makes grandma laugh and spit her teeth out. So they figured let's put this boy in theater!
Kenan says:
My mother got me into theater classes on a recommendation from her friend. I seemed to really enjoyed the classes and wanted to stay in it. She thought I had a knack for it. I always liked to entertain people and tell jokes.
Mandy asks: Welcome Kenan and Kel! I m so glad to have a chance to talk live with you. I watch "All That" all the time and its my favorite show. I wondered if each of you would share your story about the audition for the show? Thanks!
Kel says:I was acting for a long time. I had a lot of tests in school that day. I learned my monologue, but I blanked on the whole thing. They said I could go get it and read it
to them. But as I acme in, I tripped over some camera cords, and they thought it was my shtick, but it wasn't. But I came back in, almost broke their cameras, sweating, they said act like you're doing standup, so I did some Richard Pryor, some of my own stuff, did my teachers hers. They fell on the floor. Then they asked my parents if I could fly to L.A. it's like the Lord came down and said, brother, you're going to get it. My mom started screaming because the phone started to ring when I got home.
Kenan says:I auditioned in Atlanta, and I sent the tape out to all the producers, and I never heard back, and I was as in the middle of shooting 'Mighty Ducks 2.' So I went back to filming, and I got a call from the show, and they wanted me to meet the producers and writers. I figured I was in the door, and my first Hollywood movie, so I was like, "Babe, can I call you Babe?" So I did some characters. Then I finished the movie and went home and got the call. But I never got to go to L.A. It was in Orlando. I never got to the parties; I was the last person picked.
Tracie says:Thanks for coming!

ANOTHER POPULAR SERIES IN ALL THAT IS GOOD BURGER!
The teens get summer jobs at local burger joint and soon find themselves embroiled in a burger war with big-shot franchise across the street. Ed (Kel Mitchell) creates a kickin' secret sauce and it's up to him and co-worker Dexter (Kenan Thompson) to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. That's it. That's the premise. But the premise isn't the problem. The young stars, fresh from their top-rated Nickelodeon series "All That," are subjected to lousy, insulting and humorless dialogue. Compound that with a cast that includes Abe Vigoda ("Fish"), Sinbad, Shaquille O'Neal and Dan Schneider (the big kid from Better Off Dead), and we're not really left scratching our heads as to why it wasn't a laugh-riot. Where's the beef? All the meat is in the title. I could churn out lame -- but fitting -- puns all day, but one phrase comes to mind that sums it all up: Picture an urban Pauly Shore movie. If you didn't shudder, maybe you will dig Good Burger.

Would You Like Fries With That?
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, the hit duo of Nickelodeon's "All That," met three years ago after being chosen from among several hundred young actors. Since then, their popularity and friendship have grown. If you watch their silly antics on their spin-off show, "Kenan and Kel," you'll see the makings of a superb comedy team. The young stars will continue working their goofy-guffaw humor into the heart of American pop culture with a serving of their new movie, Good Burger. A tasty bit of family humor that stands out among most films aimed at a young urban audience (Read: there are no guns.). Recently, Kenan and Kel spoke with Rough Cut's Elyce Strong about their film, fame, and upcoming projects.
How did you get involved with Good Burger?
Kel: Good Burger was one of the most popular sketches on our comedy show "All That." It's about a kid that works in a fast food restaurant and messes up all the orders. He doesn't try to, but I guess you can say he's kind of slow, but not really. He's a real innocent kind of guy and just takes life as it goes. He talks like a surf dude, has long braids, and takes everything real literal. Like if you came up to him and asked him for a good shake, he would literally shake you and you just wanted a milk shake.
What appealed to you about the script?
Kenan: The script came off our show, "All That." They were always talking about doing a movie with Kel and I, but didn't know if they wanted to do it with Ed and Ishbu [characters on the show] or with Ed and Superdude or whoever. All the other characters kind of clash with each other. So they came up with Dexter, a 16-year-old kid who thinks he's all that and is manipulative and kind of mischievous at times. Dexter is always thinking about the quick way out of a situation. He doesn't think about the consequences and it always ends up backfiring in his face, so he learns a lot of lessons and stuff. What's appealing about the script, are all the life lessons involved. That's why we had such a good time doing the film. And the cameos -- like Sinbad and Shaquille O'neal and Carmen Electra really helped out too.
What was it like working with them?
Kel: It was real nice. We knew Sinbad already and we knew Shaq also, so it was a lot of fun working with them. A lot of people jumped on the bandwagon to be in it because it's a good family film and it's PG. You can take everyone to go see it -- grandma to the grandkids. And a lot of the stars now, they're older. They have kids and they want to be able to take their kids to go see their movies. They want to have their whole family come and check them out.
What's the target audience for this movie?
Kel: Being with Nickelodeon, we're geared towards ages 6 to 11. That's the target audience, but everybody enjoys us. Like, you have those college kids somewhere in Kentucky that only have two networks for television, but if they have cable, prime time is "Kenan and Kel." So actually, we do have a good following. Teenagers love us because we have musical guests on "All That." But "Kenan and Kel" is something new. We're a comedy duo and our generation hasn't seen that. Other generations have seen Abbott and Costello or Martin and Lewis, but our generation wasn't born when Abbott and Costello were out. So we're a new comedy duo, sort of like Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier.
Tell me about first landing parts "All That."
Kenan: It was great. We both kind of have our separate little, funny audition stories. I know mine is, I was doing Mighty Ducks Two when I heard about a sketch comedy show called "All That." It was the first one of its kind on a network for kids and my agents were like, "Wow, you really need to jump on this." So actually Brian Robbins, the producer, walked into the editing room of Mighty Ducks Two and he saw me, and the director of Mighty Ducks Two knew Brian and they talked back and forth. They wanted me to put myself on tape so I put myself on tape in Atlanta when I was home for like a break or something. Then I was back in L.A. doing Mighty Ducks Two and had a meeting with the producers and forgot it was for the same show that I had put myself on tape for. I just thought they had called me in because I was doing Mighty Ducks and I was big time, so I went in there all confident. I had my legs crossed, like, 'So what time do you want to sign the contract,' that kind of thing. I did some impressions. I did Bill Cosby and an old man and I think Kel did an old man in his, and that's how they put us together in a sketch called "Mavis and Clavis." We really had the chemistry and hit it off.
Kel: Mine was actually funny. I went on a lot of auditions, but this audition, the morning of that day, I had a lot of tests to do in school, and I just wasn't focusing. I forgot my monologue when I went in there, and I was all embarrassed, like, "I messed my monologue up. I'm not going to get this show," and they were like, "Would you like to go get a breath." So, I left the room and I found out later the producer said, "Ok, this kid is not funny. We're not going to even break out the cameras or anything, right? We're just going to forget about him." So I came back in and I tripped over the camera cords. They started cracking up. They thought this was part of my skit, they thought this was me. Now, I'm really embarrassed, and I'm up there doing the monologue. They cracked up laughing. That made me feel a little bit more comfortable. And then they said, "Ok kiddo, now we want you to act like you're doing standup." I did that and I thought, "This is right up my alley." I did some Richard Pryor stuff. I did some of my own stuff. They told me to improv and we just had a lot of fun. So they ran up to my dad like, "Can this kid fly out to LA."
How old are you guys?
Kenan: I'm 19.
Kel: I'm 18.
You both seem pretty level-headed for having fame at such a young age. How do you keep it real?
Kenan: Our family helps. I'm from Atlanta and he's from Chicago and we have very humble beginnings starting out in the theater. We weren't born into Hollywood. We're not Hollywood kids, and we were grounded before we started getting famous.
Kel: Like he said, we have a good background and we treat everyone really nice. I mean, we're just down-to-earth guys. We're not stuck up. We don't go back home and say, "Have you seen our billboards? Have you seen us on television?" That kind of thing.
Kenan: I don't see any point in changing just because I got a little bit more money. I get free stuff here or I get free stuff there. There's no excuse for treating someone in a bad kind of way that you wouldn't want to be treated yourself. And that's something that we believe in really strongly. 'Cause we're both really religious and stuff like that, so that helps.
What about college?
Kel: We're both in Santa Monica College, but we both took off for a semester because of the movie and everything. We might be switching colleges also.
What are you majoring in?
Kel: Film. Kenan actually made his directorial debut with a song that I wrote for the album. It's called "I'm a Dude" and it's on the soundtrack and it's Ed singing a dude song. It's really cool.
Kenan: The video is playing now on MTV and we did another video with 702 that's out too.
What's in the future for both of you?
Kel: Seeing that we're both majoring in film, producing and directing. And maybe starting our own production company. We're also starting a clothing line. We'll probably call it Chi-Atlanta. I'm from Chicago, he's from Atlanta. That sort of thing. We're still going to keep the comedy in it, like have a pocket by the knee or something, or a zipper in the back. Something crazy.
So, you plan to keep working together?
Kenan: Right on, right on. I mean he's going to venture off and do his music thing and I'm going to venture off and do my screenwriting thing. That way, we give each other space, so we don't fight and break up the duo over some dumb stuff. You might either see him in front of the camera in a movie and see my name producing and directing it or vice versa, so there's always going to be that comedy duo.
Who are your role models?
Kenan: I look up to Sinbad and Eddie Murphy. Arsenio, Redd Foxx and Laurence Fishburne too. And Martin Lawrence.
Kel: A lot of physical comedians because I'm a physical comedian. I look up to Jerry Lewis, Steve Martin and Martin Lawrence. Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, and the serious actors like Denzel Washington and Sidney Poitier.
How does it feel to be back at home?
Kenan: It feels great, but it's making me mad, because it's teasing me. We're leaving tonight, and we just got here last night and I wanted to see all my people that are in the theater company with me. The Freddie Hendrix Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, that's the company that I'm with now, and they perform at the Seven Stages Theater, but they were out of town performing in Savannah. They're about as busy as I am. It's kind of hard, but they're coming to see the movie tonight and going to the party, but then I'm leaving again. We spent about a week and a half this whole year in our hometowns. It's hard but it pays off when you do go home because everybody's really excited to see you and you get away from the Hollywood thing for a while and be yourself.
