Tromsoe/Tromsø bids for the first Arctic Olympic Games in history !
The Arctic City of Tromsoe in Norway has applied to be the host for the Winter Olympic Games in 2014. The Arctic Games will be new and spectacular.
Example accommodation; there will be a dusin of cruise ships and passanger ships with beds to over 55.000 olympic visitors.
The norwegian IOC member Gerhard Heiberg, thinks Tromsoe has a good chance to be the host in 2014.
Tromsoe will have the most compact Winter Games ever with every event and arena in a radius of 15 kilometers from the centre of Tromsoe city. It will not take more than 30 minutes to get to the arenas.
Because of the arctic winter darkness, the Winter Olympic Games will be moved from February to March month. It would probably clash with other events for some sports federations.
The northern light gives the arctic city a mystical and peaceful feeling that will give the perfect televiton pictures worldwide.
The city of Tromsoe has about 60,000 people located around 400 kilometers. The nature is beautiful,wild and free with high mountains surrounding the island. Tromsoe is also called the `northern paris`. In the summer time the midnight sun makes the arctic city indescribable beautiful.(I know,I come from Tromsoe :-))
Norway’s Parliament will have to approve Tromsoe’s bid by 2005.
IOC decides the 2014 host city in 2007.
