Interview with Me!
INTERVIEW WITH ME
Well, everyone wanted to know more about me so here are some questions that were asked.
Q. What inspires you to write? (Question from Yourame)
A. So many things, to be quite honest. Nature, reality, TV, music, situations involving friends...the inspiration is pretty much everywhere. I can get ideas from the craziest places. From taking a shower to digging through stuff under my bed, it somehow inspires me.
But there are two things that inspire me more than the others: the people who are going to read my stuff in the future and the ones who never will.
Q.What's your favorite piece and why? (Question from Tiffany)
A. Aw, how can I pick a favorite? Jaws of Love is one I have fun writing though Figments of Imagination isn't bad either. That's the one fans tend to like more. In fanfiction, Switch had me rolling in laughter. Blank Pages and Tiny Misunderstanding also have me wrapped around their fingers. Plus there are so many other one-shots and poems that I adore too.
Q.Do you like writing science fiction? (Question from Apryl)
A. I'm more of a horror/myster/supernatural action type person, throwing in a twinge of romance, gay or straight, every now and then. I unforutunately have failed to write a decent science fiction novel. Or so all the critics and editors tell me. Evidently, I need more research. They all think I'm a good writer, just need more practice in that area.
Q.Do you write more for the reader or for yourself? (Question from Zhen)
A. A bit of both. Everything I do because I want to do it. It keeps me sane. But it's nice to know a reader is reading what I write ;)
Q. Do you put yourself into your stories often? (Question from Dan)
A. Depends what you mean by that. If you're asking do I do self-insertions where I put myself in an imaginary world (an anime world, i.e.), the answer is no. It feels kind of stupid, if you ask me, changing canon, making imaginary characters fall in love with you or trust you, giving yourself powers, etc. You're better off writing a fiction story or a fanfic with the regular cast of characters. Other people can do it if they want but it's not for me.
But if you're asking whether I base my characters off myself, then yes. A lot of them are based off me. Heck, all of them have a part of me. They are my babies, after all. Of course, they'll have some of my genes ;)
Q. What happened to your first site and will this other one be completed someday?
A. For the first part, I don't know. It was fine but it suddenly crashed for no reason. I tried to revive it but to no avail. So I had to make a new one. For part two, yes, it will. But that will take a while. I've got a good lot to do.
Q. Will you ever consider writing fanfiction with couples that you don't like? (i.e. Aya/Yohji, Aya/Sakura, etc.)
A. Depends on the couple. I have, believe it or not, started writing a Aya/Yohji. It's harder than writing RanKen for me but I'm getting used to it. I've read some A/Y that is pretty good. As for Aya/Sakura, probably not. I see their relationship going no further than brother/sisterly love. Scherient, maybe I might be inspired to write something but they never really appealed to me.
Q. What is something people would be shocked to learn about you?
A. I love to play darts, I enjoy taking care of children under 5 (it's above that age that I don't care about!), and I love to bake goodies like cookies, brownies, and cupcakes. Ha!
Q. Who is your favorite reviewer/critic/judge?
A. My mother and brother. Their opinions are the ones that matter to me the most.
Questions all from San
1. Which is your favourite team sport to watch or play, and why?
Team sports? I have no interest in team sports! I only like making fun of other people!
2. What "decadent" luxury do you never deny yourself, even when you're close to being broke or out of time? (Can be food, an hour leisure in the park, anything, really.)
An icy cold coke on a hot day.
3. Do you believe that, without the negative experiences in your life, you'd become a worse writer? A writer at all? Or simply differently inspired?
I think I'd still be the same writer that I am but a little more happy. It would be harder to write about certain things. No one would be comparing me to Anne Sexton :)
4. What is the special 'something' - be it materialistic, spiritual or whatever, experience or possession - that you treasure most?
My creativity of course! I also treasure my friends and family.
5. What is the silliest thing you have ever done? Details welcome ;)
Um...does wearing underwear on your head count?
More questions from Tiffany
1. When did you start writing?
Um, five, that's when they teach you how to write in preschool. Right?
2. How many languages do you speak?
Three: English, French, and Bengali. (I also knew Spanish a long time ago)
3. Are you in college? If so, what are you majoring in? If not, what do you want to do in the long run?
Yes but I'm almost through with it. The major is arts application. In the long run, I plan on becoming a freelance novelist. If that's not possible, then an architect or graphic artist.
4. Do you have any pets?
No. I'm not fond of domesticated animals. I like the wild ones more.
5. What was the last book you read?
I don't remember at all! Just books of poetry and short stories and Paradise Kiss.
Q. If you were a pie, what kind of pie would you be?
A. The chocolate chocolate-chip pie. I'm going straight to somebody's thighs that way!
Q. Which character, from any story, is your favorite to write?
A. Oh wow, I hate playing favorites cause they are all unique and different. In JOL and anything related to The Deathly Silent, Alex Ruteger has my heart. A spade is a spade is a spade to him and nothing more. He practically writes himself and I love how he doesn't try hard to be smart. He is smart. In my mind, he looks like Ian Somerhalder too (I'm a growing Lost fan) and that kinda helps, lol! In FOI, Kellan. I just love bastards for some reason. Plus when his heart melts, it becomes a pile of icy, cool goo.
Q. Since you mentioned Ian Somerhalder, you got any idea of actors to play your characters?
A. I try hard not to go that far! But there are few I'd love to see act in a screenplay based off my books: Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Marcia Cross, Rachel McAdams, Catherine Zeta-Jones are a few off the top of my head. As for males, Ian Somerhalder is the only one I'd really want to throw in. Also, I'd love to give Rob Pattinson (of the Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire fame) some work too ;).
Q. Let's step away from fiction and talk poetry. Traditional or experimental?
A. Experimental though there are several traditional styles poems that I love writing.
Q. Any favorite poems? How about songs?
A. Gah, I'd have to look through a huge pile of papers! There are really too many to count.
I emailed you and you never replied ;_; Why is that?
First off, I'm so sorry for not replying back! However, the reason for that could be because you didn't specify who you were or why you were emailing me in the subject line of the email. If I don't recognize your name, chances are high I'm going to accidentally delete it. So to make sure I see it, put either the name you go by online, story your asking about, or something that makes me know you're trying to contact me about writing.
I love you! Can I IM you sometime?
Most certainly. I have AIM, Yahoo, and MSN. AIM: kenfujimiya. Yahoo: ranandkenforever. MSN: Ask me about it via email. This is the one I don't give out unless this is your only means of talking to me.
Please note that I'm pretty busy so you may not see me a lot. I'll try to get on more often in the future.
Please update your stories soon!
Hey, that's not a question! But anyway, I'll try to update asap but no guarantees.
