1987.Wow,whatta great year that was for me.I was fronting a spandex clad,sock stuffed in the crotch basement band,seducing the young girls with my wiggly guitar moves."Headbangers Ball"was on every Saturday Night.Lotsa great slabs of vinyl were released to the big haired masses,It was a magical time.
Now it's the year 2001 and I find myself going back and reliving those moments listening to those old faves-Guns N' Roses,Faster Pussycat,the "Zapped" soundtrack,EZO.

Nope,my feather boa wearin' friendz.EZO was a Japanese version of KISS only shorter.Gene Simmons actually discovered these four ratted up,make-up clad heavy metal ninjas in 1987.So,me being a General in the KISS Army,it was my duty to pick it up.Produced by Simmons and songs written by EZO and Adam Mitchell(who also co-penned some classic KISS toons for thier "Creatures Of The Night"lp),EZO self titled American debut is a monster(as in Giant Monster)of a record!Sawblade guitar riffage,paint peeling drum beats,groovie ghoulie grooves-everything a hard rockin' heathen needs to get the teriaki sauce a'flowin'!
Anybody remember the "Flashback Heart Attack"video?Boy I do!In a time when KISS took off the warpaint,EZO was a perfect replacement for fans of "Visual Rock"(that's what the Japanese call it I guess).The singer-Masaki-not only looked cool,he sounded cool too with that Japanese accent,he sounded very sinister.Catchy toons,a great image-EZO was Super Go!
I wish I would've gotten the chance to see them live,I don't think they toured very much,and I question whether it was really the members themselves that played on the album,but regardless EZO "EZO" is what a hard rock album should be-gritty,catchy and full of gargantua balls!!
They eventually put out a second album but it failed to ignite baby Godzilla size smoke rings,but EZO was certainly an excellent record that is truly a glam rock "forgotten classic".
Kicks Pink Ladys' ass anyways.

Now if only Jet Jaguar would release a record.The Japanese would rule the rock world!
