RAGZIRRIFFIC A GO GO!

Rantz N' Raves From The Ragzter

I know I haven't been bringin' ya much of the "Guignol" on this site yet,I promise in the future I'll be concentrating more on the darker aspects of my twisted lil' mind, bringin' ya horrors n' such, cuz let's face it "Goth" is the twisted sister of Glam-they're two sides of the same coin to me anyways. But in the meantime I thought I'd share a few thoughts on the latest version released unsuspectingly on us poor souls of "The Exorcist"
I've always had a fascination with this movie. When I was a kid in the early 70's and when this movie was first released,it was frightening just seeing the commercials of it on tv!I remember the family and I went to a double drive-in to see the Clint Eastwood movie "Bronco Billy".On the other screen(facing the other direction)the drive-in was showing "The Exorcist"Guess which one us kids were watching.
Even without the sound it sent chills down our little spines and gave me nightmares beyond explaination.I couldn't sleep for weeks, afraid that in the night I would be possessed by Satan.
As the years went on I tried to watch it,but never got too far with it.It was just too horrifying.
Finally-somewhere around the early 80's,I finally got up the nerve and rented the damn thing and forced myself to watch it(in the daytime of course).I was so proud of myself that I made it thru the whole thing and found it to be an excellent flick,a true horror classic.
Then I found myself still not able to sleep for weeks.
Now,two decades later I've gotten to the point where I can watch it and it doesn't bother me at all,I've finally gotten numb to it and can enjoy it on a different level,as a story and a masterpiece of filmaking. To me "The Exorcist" is by far the greatest horror movie ever made.
So when I heard they were re-releasing it with new footage I knew I had to go see it.I figured there was nothing they could show me that would stand up to the horrors that I felt when I was a youngster seeing it,so I ventured out one afternoon to the theater to catch it.
As I sat there munching on popcorn,I enjoyed the little subtle "add ons" they stuck in there.I found them kinda unessessary(I spelt that wrong dint I?),but kinda fun too.I was doin' fine.Nothins' scarein' me here.
Till the damn little girl scuffled down the stairs like a crab and screamed out a mouthful of blood.
JESUS CHRIST!!!!
All of a sudden I was reverted back to that little kid in the 70's runnin' from the tv when the commercials came on.
I wasn't able to get that image out of my mind for two fuckin' weeks!
They did it to me again!
Of course, now that I've gotten an advance screener of the film i've been able to watch it again and again so I'm fine with it now,but I gotta hand it to Freidkin,he has done a fantastic job with "The Version You've Never Seen".A whole lotta fun n' nightmares to be had. It'll be out on DVD soon,I'll be the first to pick it up fer sure.
Check it out-I hope it lives up to my hype for ya.
Well,it's gettin late n' I gotta go to bed.
.....crap,I think the bed's shakin' again.

Hi all my lovely freakies, welcome to my page of pointless ponderings and off the wall random thoughts and images that flicker in my mind (sheesh,I've really got to get a life!).This stuff will probably make no sense to anyone but myself, but who better to share my schuffle button in my mind than with you,my fellow glamsters and ghoulies trapped in a world we never made.Enjoy!

Another ol'classic horror movie(but not quite near the league of "The Exorcist")to hit the DVD market is a movie that holds a dear place in my heart for nostolgic reasons. In the early 80's when vcr's hit the mainstream,me and my wacky friends would gather around the telley and get drunk watching bad horror films.Such classics as "Evil Dead","Return Of The Living Dead" and the king of 'em all "Basket Case"thrilled our gang of misfits to no end.I'll be babbling on and on about those such films in the months to come, but I've recently stumbled upon a rediscovery of a gem known as "Sleepaway Camp".
O.K.You can laugh now.
Actually I find myself laughing at it quite a bit.But that's part of the fun of this low budget cross between "Meatballs" and a million slasher flicks.
It's the story of a young girl, who doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the summer campers, only she doesn't have Bill Murray to bring her out of her shell, instead she hooks up with a dorky young kid with serious anger issues.Of course there's murders aplenty and no one knows who's behind it all.(Ya gotta check out the scene where the cook gets boiled by a tipped over vat of steaming hot soup).
I won't give it all away-cuz really most of the movie is quite a stinker, but the ending came as quite a shock to us drunkin' 20 somethins when we first saw it,and the ending is what makes it a classic.
And who'd a thunk it,20 somethin years later, there's a website dedicated to it,a fan club and it did spawn 2 sequels!Jeez,I guess there musta been other drunks out there just as thrilled with the film as we were!
So if ya find yerselves with a hankerin' for some good ol' early 80's slashermania(let's face it-they couldn't have gotten away with makin' this movie nowdays)then check out "Sleepaway Camp".It's a fun ride.
ps-try to get ahold of a copy of "Gorp"too. It's a long forgotten camp movie also, featuring the acting talents of Fran Drescher ,Dennis Quaid,Rosanna Arquette and Mark Demming(Who?),I swear-there is no way in hell they could get away with making a movie like this today either. It's a must see!

"Where's The Beef?"
Well,it's right here honey! My big beef of the present moment is with those pesky "hidden tracks"bands seem to plop in thier cd's nowdays. It really screws up my listening pleasure when I have my 25 disc cd player set to random then when I least expect it I get a half hour of silence waiting in anticipation for a toon and what do I get? Some stupid knock off track or some home taping of someone muttering nonsense.I hate that!Do these bands think they're being clever?Jeez,it's done way too much too,so the novelty has worn off. Please stop doing it,I'm beggin' ya!That was the good thing about vinyl records, the artist had only about 45 minutes of stuff they could slap on the record,so they made it damn good, and they kept the "filler" to a minimum.A lot of good bands are doing this(Nine Inch Nails,Tool,London After Midnight),and it really lets me down when I have to sit n' wait for basically nothin' when they could've filled the space up with one more song.
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
