"Return to Innocence"
As a child...
laughter flowed from my lips.
Delight shone in my eyes.
Love in my heart.
Later...
laughter died.
Delight rarely seen.
Love denied.
Now...
laughter bursting forth.
Delight unhidden.
Love's fire burns bright,
warming all it sees.
Tomorrow...
who knows?
Rejoice in today.
Hope lives.
God be praised,
for this wonderful
return to innocence.

"The First Day"
Today,
is the first day,
since I realized,
my love for you,
is deep within
my heart,
sleeping a sleep,
from which it will not
awaken.
I saw...
people laughing,
talking,
smiling.
I did...
laugh,
talk,
smile.
I saw...
a squirrel...
and I stopped...
I watched...
it watched...
sweet joy flowed
through me.
Today,
is the first day,
since you left me,
alone,
that I have been
happy.

"Missing You"
Missing you...
sometimes...
so badly...
I can't breathe.
Tears of fire rip
through me,
as the liquid pain,
rolls down my cheeks.
Remembering...
everything good...
I weep.
Softly,
so afraid,
of you knowing.
Seeing you seeing me,
knowing you know I feel so...
I die, inside.
Holding my head up high,
letting the misery roll,
I know I'm alive.
Being alive,
feeling the pain,
I know,
I will get through,
and love once again.
Missing you...
remembering you...
I feel that
I have lived.
Knowing you...
makes me special.
Loving you...
I shall always do.
But...
you are gone...
gone from me...
I, gone from you.
So now I leave you.
I live my life,
you live yours.
I can never forget you,
my first true love.
I will never stop missing you...
Goodbye.

I LEARN AS THE YEARS ROLL ONWARD
& LEAVE THE PAST BEHIND
THAT MUCH I HAVE COUNTED SORROW
BUT PROVES OUR GOD IS KIND
THAT MANY A FLOWER I LONGED FOR
HAD A HIDDEN THORN OF PAIN
& MANY A RUGGED BYPATH
LED TO FIELDS OF RIPENED GRAIN.
THE CLOUDS BUT COVER THE SUNSHINE
THEY CANNOT BANISH THE SUN;
& THE EARTH SHINES OUT THE BRIGHTER
WHEN THE WEARY RAIN IS DONE,
WE MUST STAND IN THE DEEPEST SHADOWS
TO SEE THE CLEAREST LIGHT
& OFTEN FROM WRONG'S OWN DARKNESS
COMES THE VERY STRENGHTH OF RIGHT
WE MUST LIVE THROUGH THE WEARY WINTER
IF WE WOULD VALUE THE SPRING ,
& THE WOODS MUST BE COLD & SILENT
BEFORE THE ROBINS SING.
THE FLOWERS MUST BE BURIED IN DARKNESS
BEFORE THEY CAN BUD & BLOOM,
& THE SWEETEST & WARMEST SUNSHINE
COMES AFTER THE STORM & GLOOM.
SO THE HEART, FROM THE HARDEST TRIALS
GAINS THE PUREST JOY OF ALL,
& FROM LIPS THAT HAVE TASTED SADNESS
THE SWEETEST SONG SHALL FALL.
FOR A PEACE COMES AFTER SUFFERING,
& LOVE IS THE REWARD OF PAIN,
SO AFTER EARTH COMES HEAVEN
& OUT OF LOSS THE GAIN.
