I started mcing in 1995 on a pirate station called Radio Active on 107.40FM with my mate DJ P.D.F. who played old skool d'n'b.
The station played d'n'b, old skool, garage, hip hop & happy hardcore & was a quality station.
My MC Name came about while I was mcing to my mate DJ P.D.F.'s old skool drum & bass set on Radio Active. The texts & calls were going mad & a listener called in to say that the DJ was playing a blinding set & the MC had good lyrics & took all the listeners on a magical ride. This was then how it came about of me then calling myself MC Magic & I thought magical ride has to be magic.
Then in 1997 I had a break for a while, but carried on following the d'n'b, old skool, hardcore & underground sounds by attending events, buying tape packs to listen to how the mc's sounded & to listen to the styles they used while the DJ was playing a track, for my own style. I then started writing down my own lyrics for me to use, after listening to various, hardcore, old skool & d'n'b tape packs while in my bedroom one evening.
Then in 2001 I did some mcing at a pub in Fleet called The Emporium alongside DJ P.D.F.
Then in 2002 I started going to hardcore events called Ultimate Rush in Reading which have been very successful.
The events are run by a guy called Andy Morley & are a huge success up to this present date, with the latest being Ultimate Rush 7.
I got my first real break when I met Andy at the Ultimate Rush events where he was a resident MC who was called MC Sykee & asked him on one of the nights if it was possible to MC at all, he said yes why not & was pretty impressed & been mcing alongside MC Sykee ever since.
Since then I have mced at free partys, house partys, clubs, an internet radio station called Interface & a pirate station called Streaming FM.
The events I have mced at are Ultimate Rush at The Boxing Club/Chumleys, Frequency at Chumleys, Digital Transition in Horley & Dark Energy at the EQ Club in Portsmouth plus others.
I now host my own show on Streaming on 87.80FM, every Friday from 7PM-9PM.
The DJ's on there for this two hour show is DJ Kryptonite who plays happy hardcore & DJ Hoodlum who plays d'n'b alongside myself MC Magic on the mic.
The show has been running for about six weeks now & is very successful.
