is a native Detroiter. He started studying guitar at the age of nine under the direction of Mr. Wilson Warren at Northwestern School of Music. Vaughn graduated from Berklee College of Music as an arranging and composition major.

He was one of the select original Montreux musicians that made the pilgrimage to Switzerland. Vaughn was a part of many civic jazz performances there which paved the way for the establishment of the first Montreux Festival in Detroit's Hart Plaza.Vaughn was in the first bands that performed at the grand openings of the Renaissance Center, the Dodge Fountain christening, Pontiac Stadium opening, the first and second Detroit International Grand Prix banquets. He was frequently called on by many heads of State to perform for civic and state affairs worldwide as well as many events with the late Mayor Coleman Young.
TheUnited States of Representatives
presented him with the Honorary Tribute Award for his dedication and international music contributions as a jazz educator, arranger, and guitarist.
Vaughn has worked and sat in with many top jazz artists over the years.
In addition to jazz, pop, and R & B, Vaughn studied and regularly performed classical and flamenco, and latin style guitar in Japan for 12 years. After returning to the United States in 1995 he has regularly performed classical styles for The Detroit Institute of Arts. When The Rembrant Art Collection came there, Vaughn was selected to enhance the atmosphere and well received with many standing ovations.
He is also noted for his solo concerts home parties, and weddings, including special events at The Henry Ford residents. The Henry Ford museum has featured Vaughn and many of his group associates annually for Black History week.
In the midwest, he is often called upon to perform jazz, rhythm & blues, fusion, Motown pops, standards, and big band music, as well as for latin and classical guitar styles.World Class Musician
He has many fans worldwide and has traveled Europe, the Caribbean,Australia, and Asia extensively. He's lived in Boston, Hollywood, Germany, England, and returned to Detroit, his home town, in 1996 after a 13 year stay in Japan. He speaks basic Japanese and was received well while there as an arranger, bandleader and studio musician.
Vaughn has perfected a unique guitar style that always leaves his audiences spellbound. He calls it -Pozzazz Guitar-. He prides himself as being called one of the most diligent guitar chord-melody players on the planet.
Vaughn was featured on the 1996 CBS Montreux-Detroit Special with the Johnny Trudell Orchestra. His chord solo in the selection -A Night in Tunisia- left the audience with their mouths open, screaming for more. As a result, he was asked to return for the 1997 adn 1998 CBS Special with the CBS Montreux-Detroit Allstar Special.
Vaughn has continued to perform in Ford Festivals, Afro Festivals in Detroits Hart Plaza events every year since returning from Japan ('95---(2003).
Vaughn has rebuilt his following. He is well known by audiences as well as all the musicians who love guitar music.
Vaughn has also lead many of his own music groups and production such as: The Real Tones (production) consisting of many of Detroits finest musicans. ---Rudy Robinson, Teddy Harris, Joe Hunter, Charles Green, Phil Haily (keyb)--Pistol Allan, Uriel Jones, Dave Parker, George Davison, George Goldsmith (drums)-- Ubie Crawford, Peanut Smith, Don Mayberry, Ralph Armstrong, Ahmid Danna (bass)-- Dwight Adams, Marcus Belgraves, Larry Smith ... and a long list of great horn players.
Now he lastest group is called the "K.G.B." which stands for "Kan't Get A Break" is doing some new innovative things with smaller groups and live tracks with Clay McMurray and Cherokee Pree --live as well as many studio productions.
Vaughn also has his own CD entitled -Choose Love-.
