Fanfic For Muggles - Submission Guidelines
When Posting Your Fic:
1. Please post your story in the appropriate forum. For example, if you've written a short story about Fred & George Weasley, it belongs in "The Burrow." If you've written a ten chapter story about anyone, it belongs in "List of All Necesary Books." See story length below for details.
2. Story length is important when choosing a forum to post in. Stories with less than five chapters should be sorted into the character appropriate forum (see the Fred & George example above). Stories longer than five chapters should ALWAYS be posted in "List of All Necessary Books," regardless of characters.
3. Song fics are the ONLY works that may be posted in two separate forums. You may post your song fic in "The Music Room," as well as the character appropriate forum. But please don't post your run-of-the-mill Ron Weasley fic in "Godric's Hollow," as well as "The Burrow," just because Harry's in it - ONLY song fics may adhere to this double-posting rule!
4. Please stick to canon. If you have any question regarding canon, consult the Harry Potter Lexicon, as it is an excellent resource (see link below). You may also adhere to popular fanon, but be sure to use an author's note telling your readers which work of fan fiction you are referencing. Leaving a link to that work might be nice, too, in case anyone would like to check it out. If it's good enough to reference, it ought to be good enough for us to want to read!
5. Please use spell and grammar check, or else look into getting a beta reader. I'm guilty of mistakes, but the huge, glaring ones are the ones we don't want to see here!

Also, please consult the link below (American's Guide to Speaking British) before you attempt to use too many Britishisms in your fic. As an American, I know I like to have it as a guide!
6. Please DO NOT post your slash or NC-17 rated fics here. There are plenty of places you can post fics of that nature, but this is not one of them.
7. Please remember to begin your fic with the typical disclaimer spiel and rating. If you are unsure about how to rate your fic, feel free to consult the MPAA as a ratings guide (see links below). Also, PLEASE warn readers about potentially offensive content in an author's note at the beginning of your fic.
