By 1923 women were sunbathing - with a healthy glow complementing a more unstructured approach to beauty routines and dress code; and with physical activities such as swimming becoming popular. The corset was abandoned in favour of looser, more comfortable undergarments and fashion's silhouette became short and fluid.
