1914 motherhood
In 1914 as a confirmation of the fashion revolution for women having begun, Chanel cut the first bathing costume for women and the sea was no longer reserved for men and small children. She was keen to show that women could be physical, active and strong and her next move was to encourage women to take on a healthy glow and to reflect this freedom in dress code in a new relaxed attitude to beauty.
