After visiting President Jackson at the Hermitage that moring, in the afternoon I went to the State Capitol where President Polk is buried. The Tennessee State Capitol which sits on a hill, was a very long walk up if you are not use to it. There is a staute of Andrew Jackson on a horse on the Capitol grounds near President Polk's grave. President Polk wanted to be buried on the grounds of his home, but the house was torn down and President and Mrs. Polk were moved to the State Capitol in 1893.
