Matthew 5:6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

What are we hungering and thirsting after? It could be that we are after that perfect job with great wages so that we can be financially secure, or we are trying to impress people so as to be able to get in with them and be recognised, or we are going all out to be the best in a sport that we like, Again so we can be recognised or feel fulfilled, All these goals people go after and many more I could mention, But do these goals really fulfil that need in our lives?, That hunger that we have may be filled but it only lasts for a while, because it all falls really short of meeting men and women's needs in their hearts and minds. But Jesus Christ said that if we hunger and thirst after righteousness we will be filled. We need to be hungering and thirsting for the truth of Gods Word, That's the only way to be filled and get the needs of our hearts and lives met.

Here is another great verse of scripture.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The context or this verse is talking laying treasures up here on Earth and about worrying if your needs are going to be met.
Read Matthew ch6: v 19-32 (Please read these verses)

In verse 21 Jesus Christ says for where your treasure (thoughts) is their will your heart be also.
What we have to ask ourselves is what is the priorities in our lives, is it the negatives, the doubt, the worry and , or fear, or is it Gods Word that we are looking to, To met our every need. The promise here in Matthew ch 6: v 33 If we seek God first and His righteousness He will meet the need He will add to us not subtract, God never takes from our lives He always adds.
So you maybe asking, How do I seek the Kingdom of God first and his righteousness. You seek God first and His righteousness by seeking His Word, By going to the Word, Reading it, enjoying and rejoicing in His Word by making the Word of God your delight, and taking the truths of His Word and applying it in our daily living and believing to see the promises that are for us in Gods Word come to pass for us, It is available all we have to do is Believe and act on what is written

Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

When Jeremiah found Gods Word what did he do?, That's right he ate them, he thought about the Word, he chewed it over in his mind, He considered what the Word was saying to him and what God wanted him to do, And it should be the same when we go to the Word and God just opens up the beauty of His Word for us.

Matthew 4:4 But he (Jesus Christ) answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Here Jesus Christ is backing off the Adversary with the Word of God in order to do this Jesus Christ must have known his bible, the verse of scripture Jesus Christ was quoting is Deuteronomy ch 8 v 3. Today we back of the same Adversary by quoting the Word of God, But we have to know the Word in order to do this, The way we get to know the Word of God is to study the Word of God.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The word study in 2 Timothy 2:15 is the Greek word Speudo which means to expand a diligent effort remembering the brevity of time. God wants us to exert ourselves in His Word utilising our time wisely. God wants us to exert an effort diligently rightly dividing the Word of truth, Using our time wisely so we can rightly divide His Word and stand approved before him.

Psalms 119:11
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Here David says he hid the Word in his heart for the purpose that he might not sin or break fellowship with God. The more we put on the Word of God the more we will grow and get closer to the heart of the Father. Every time you go to the Word of God you go to the Fathers heart and the more Word of God we know and act on the more we can walk like our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Manifesting the more than abundant life he came to give.

Here is our starting point to putting on the Word of God.

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

God wants us to change our thinking according to the way we use to think, Which is what we learnt from this World and can not profit us much, and change our thinking to think what His Word says , And in turn as we act on the Word we will change how we live. The word conformed in Romans ch 12 v 2 is the Greek word Shema which means fashioned, God does not want us to be fashioned or like the people are in this World, for example following the latest trends "its all right to be Gay" (Not), it is OK taking drugs. Gods heart is for us to change our thinking according to His Word and this in turn will change our lives as we act on the Word.

The word transformed is the Greek word Metamorphosis = a biological process by which a caterpillar is turned into a butterfly it's a process of transforming. And it's the same when we put the Word on in our minds we do not change over night, it's a renewing, it's a continuos action on our part to renew our minds to daily put on this Word of God, It takes effort just like it takes effort to study the Word of God. The Word says we are to be workmen working the Word, not just with a pen and a concordance but with our hearts, minds and being. But it is not a struggle, we do it because we are thankful for the Word, and to God for giving us His son Jesus Christ so that we could be born again, have eternal life and manifest a life which is more than abundant, and the list goes on and on.

Psalms 119:16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

When we delight in His Word we will not forget it. Its that simple.

Psalms 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

When we are not conforming to this World we are blessed, When our delight is in Gods Word then we are blessed. A tree that is planted by a river has an endless supply of fresh water so that it can grow continually and blossom, and that tree is always bearing fruit. And it's the same with Gods Word when we are rooted in the Word we have an endless supply of Gods answers, Deliverance, Health, Prosperity, Love , Light and direction, and we will prosper in every category in life.

So if you are hungering and thirsting after righteousness you will absolutely be filled. God is not a respector of persons but of believing and believing His Word, Let us make that sound mind decision to go to the Word of God daily to seek Him first and delight in His Word, to renew our minds to the truth of His Word and not the lies this World promotes. Let the Word of God be the joy and rejoicing of your heart, eat it, chew it over in your mind, think about what God is saying to you, Lets work the Word of God and apply it until we are like the tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in season, and we will never again have to hunger and thirst, for we will truly be filled.

Godbless you
