Richard Gibb
1949
Served in the United States Army during WWII. Richie was a Sergeant and fought in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Rich received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Richie served as Post 862 Commander in 1949 and was also a member of VFW Post 402 for over 40 years and a member of the GBU in Coraopolis. Rich and his wife Alma had four children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Rich was born in Scotland in 1909 and passed away in June 1995. Rich was the brother of Past Commander James Gibb.

It was the VETERAN, not a reporter, who gave us freedom of the press.
It was the VETERAN, not the poet, who gave us freedom.
It was the VETERAN, not a lawyer, who gave us the right to a fair trial.
It was the VETERAN, not a campus organizer, who gave us the right to demonstrate.
It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag.
It is the VETERAN, who served under the Flag and fought for his country.
It is the VETERAN, whose coffin is draped by the Flag.
It is a VETERAN, who allows a protester to burn the Flag.
Remember, these are simple things, but we the people of this country would have nothing if it wasn't for the VETERANS.
