Pokemon Deck Wave

Alright, so I haven't modified for a while, so what. I getting a little tired of putting down poke'mon's names, levels, etc. Here are a couple of poke'mon decks, I have been thinking of. If you have any you want to submit, just mail them to me Tymothe Connaughton. The email address is at the bottom of the page. Please include the cards and what series, what you think the weaknesses of the deck are, and what the strategy is. This way I can keep in mind the type of deck you want.

PSYCHIC PARADE:

This is a deck that is made up stalling and Poke'mon Powers. It is as you have probably guessed a Psychic deck. The objective of this deck is to stall your opponent causing them to deck themselves. With the help of Alakazam's Poke'mon Power, Damage Swap, along with Mr. Mime's Invisible Wall, Haunter's Transperancy, Gengar's Curse, and Slowbro's Strange Behavior this goal is pretty easy to achieve. All you need to do is get out Mr. Mime with Alakazam and Lickitungs on the bench and the game is yours. The problem is the deck is slow as mollases. The defense is taking too long when it is played.

PSYCHIC PARADE Version 2.0:

Energy (20)

20 Psychic Energy - I lowered the energy amount because with the drawing cards, I'll find energy faster.

Poke'mon (18)

4 Abra (B)
2 Kadabra (B)
1 Alakazam (B) - I had to keep the main chain because Damage Swap
2 Mr. Mime (J) - Just because he's simply good.
2 Lickitung (J)- A low cost attacker with high HP. Good for absorbing damage.

THE ROUGES THE RULED THE ORIGINS

Douglas Zuver's Zapdos Deck

Pokémon (14)
3 Cleffa (Neo Genesis)
4 Electabuzz (Base Set)
3 Pichu (Neo Genesis)
4 Zapdos (Base Set)

Trainers (27)
4 Berry (Neo Genesis)
4 Double Gust (Neo Genesis)
3 Fisherman F-47-# (Skyridge)
4 Gold Berry (Neo Genesis)
4 Oracle E-47-# (Skyridge)
4 Professor Elm (Neo Genesis)
4 Scoop Up (Legendary Collection)

Energy (19)
15 Lightning Energy
4 Metal Energy

Simple, huh? We have Pichu for Pokémon Power decks, and Cleffa is there for draw power. Base Buzz is a great hitter and can paralyze. The Zapdos hits for huge amounts, and, with Metal Energy on it, it takes less damage from its first attack if the flip fails. Oh, and it has Resistance to Fighting, so Tyrogue does you little good against it. The Trainers are what really count here since you have to discard Energy to use Zapdos's main attack. Scoop Up gets Zapdos back to your hand after you have already discarded all your Energy using its attack. Oracle rearranges the cards you want to come up first. Fisherman puts all those cards you just discarded back in your hand! Goldberry makes either the Zapdos or the Electabuzz last longer. Berry does the same but to a lesser degree and proves handy in many situations. Elm -- well, I don't need to tell you about Elm.

So that's it. Here you have a great deck that uses only 13 separate cards to work. It worked well enough for Douglas to be in 1st place after 5 rounds of Modified, and then take 2nd place overall. He will be at Gen Con with this deck, so if you're going, I suggest you take a close look at it. Perhaps you should make your own version if you want to finish strong. At the very least, you should tech it because it could be rolling over you if you're not prepared! Thanks for the deck, Douglas!

My fixes to his very solid Modified deck, made it an Unlimited deck. All my decks seemed to be Unlimited, oh well. My visions for this deck seemed to be counterattacking. All my evolved poke'mon have a Poke'mon Power that at some time in the game allows them to strike back. Rocket's Hitmonchan has a great counterattack move for only one energy, that can be used for effective stalling. Machamp throughout all the years seems today, still to be one of the strongest cards in the game. I can't believe it got used in the Starter deck, for such an overpowered card. Dark Gyarados has one of the most devistating Powers throughout poke'mon history: Final Beam: When Dark Gyarados is knocked out by an attack, flip a coin, if heads, this power does 20 damage times the number of (W) energies attached to Dark Gyarados to the poke'mon that knocked out Dark Gyarados. Apply Weakness and Resistance. This power doesn't work if Dark Gyarados is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed. I added some Counterattack Claws and Plus Powers in for a little more damage.
