All information pertaining to the planning, organization, and implementation of Dona Mercedes' Birthday Celebration. This site will be updated atleast once a week, and more frequently as we approach the day of the celebration. It is each family's responsibility to keep themselves updated on the latest developments.

MINUTES: MOM’S BIRTHDAY PARTY MEETING (February 26, 2005)
As promised here is a summary of what happened at the meeting in regards to Mom’s B-day. Sorry for the delay…
Date secured for event: Saturday, September 24, 2005
Black Tie / Formal Dinner
Location: Acapulco Restaurant-Modesto, CA Buffet style meal (cost effective, will visit for final approval)
Number of guest: 100 estimated
Evenings Events: 4:30 pm Reception
5:00 pm Welcome (Maria)
5:05 pm Dinner to end at 6:15
5:30 pm Mariachi to 6:30 pm
6:30 to 8:00 pm Program
1. Power Point – Esmeralda
2. Dancing ? (Tona and or Isela)
3. Band – Jonathan, Colton with select songs that mom likes.
4. Video – Pati/Tona
5. De Colores – All grandchildren
8:00 to 8:30 Cake and sing las mananitas
8:30 to 12 Dance
The following are jobs and follow up items. Please understand, you maybe asked to do something later even if you have not been asked or placed on this list.
1. Visit and approve the restaurant – Lala check for gift table and child table
2. Invitations – Olga had a really nice example of one and we all agreed. She will be donating and sending the invitations. Everyone will need to send addresses to Olga as you develop your list of special guests. All special guests are subject to knowing Mom and depending on your family size. We figured approximately 12 people per family (includes your immediate family).
3. Decorations: Mina will check on roses, glass bowls, let us see arbor decorated and order ribbon with Mom’s name on it. She will also work with Mom (as we get closer to the day of the event) to make up a favor for her to pass out that day.
4. Mariachi – Adrian will check on Mariachi’s in Sacramento, Tona will check with Gamaliel, Olga/Lala will follow up with Sandy.
5. Master of Cereomonies: Maria and Yolanda – the group thought we needed someone who could speak very good Spanish and feel comfortable talking in front of the group as well as add lib when needed.
6. Cake – Olga and Rose Marie will donate the cake. They will be giving it their personal touch.
7. Lyrics – Xoch can you please get the lyrics to De Colores and Las Mananitas. They will be placed on a card for everyone to read and sing along.
8. Program Finale – Olga will be working with all the grandchildren to choreograph the finale of the program. In which, the youngest grand and great grand children will begin singing “De Colores” and then the older ones will join in.
Everyone:
· Address for additional guest.
· Look for pictures of Mom you think would make a great story or that you would like to share on the power point presentation.
· If someone else would like to add a number to the program, you may do so by contacting me immediately, remember video testimonials will also be done.
· Price: this one is still up in the air. We must continue to plan for at least $200 per sibling. However, Xoch has stepped up to the plate with contributing at that level. If any other grand child would like to do that or some donation, it will all be greatly appreciated. Again, the idea is to make payments to Maria Soto, she will be our $$ keeper.
Also, this will change, as we get closer to the event date. Your duties as assigned will remain in effect until our next meeting where again, all of you have a voice on moving forward but not backward. In other words, most of this is set on stone, so if you would like to add anything that is great, but be prepared to do the additional work.
I would like to thank, Olga Esmeralda, Adrian, Mina, Tona and Xoch for making it to the meeting, even via telephone. It was very productive and fun, yes fun.
Next Meeting: Adrian’s house March 13th at 12 noon (it is also Cecilia’s Birthday party).
