Pocasset, Nemasket & Acoaxet Wampanoag Tribe
This is the home page of the Pocasset, Nemasket & Acoaxet Tribe of the Wampanoag Nation. Our land areas cover Southeastern Massachusetts. We are primarily affiliated with Wattupa Reservation, Middleboro-Lakeville Nemasket and Betty's Neck Area.
Our tribal council is delegated by clans the traditional way. We are currently recruiting landbase members from those particular areas. The Tribal Council meets monthly and we have cultural events regularly. We are a confederation of tribes of the Wampanoag Nation. Please contact Harry Taylor of the Beaver Clan or Daryl Jamieson of the Eagle Clan for further information.
History of the tribe Pocasset Indians were deeded 200 plus acres by Benjamin Curch in 1709. The tribe has had a continued presence at Wattupa since then and presently most recent in 2001.The tribe most recently has had ongoing relationship with Herring Pond Wampanoags through tribal members and Chief Lightning Foot Wixon. We honor the spirit of our forefathers and continue to bond with our Indian brothers of all tribes.
