Dear Fellow PFLAG family:
Our May meeting features speakers and some guests who will speak about homosexuality and the United Methodist Church. This should be a fascinating discussion regardless of your religious affiliation; but we want to emphasize that everyone is welcome at our meetings. So, whether you are Christian, or of another faith, or have no particular faith at all, we want to assure you that the first hour will be reserved for support, as always. We will most likely divide into small groups and reserve one for folks who would rather not talk about religion. The speakers will talk during the second hour, but if folks need more non-religious support we will provide that. If our program is of particular interest to someone you know, please invite them to join us. See you May 11th!

"Ex-gay" target: youth - A report from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force says youths are now the primary target of "ex-gay" programs, which warn parents to watch for effeminate behavior, even offering "prevention" therapies.
PFLAG MEETINGS - PFLAG Jackson normally meets the second Thursday of the month at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1505 W. Michigan, Jackson, MI at 7:00 pm. The next meeting will be held on May 11, 2006.

MAY MEETING - We'll be meeting back at the church and our guest will be Ron and Carolyn Paige who are members of PFLAG Lansing. Ron and Carolyn are parents to Chris Paige who's partner is Beth Strod. Beth had her Minister's Credentials Revoked and was expelled from the Methodist clergy after convicting her of breaking church law by living openly as a lesbian. Monogamous Mixed Orientation Marriages http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mmom/
MMOM is a support group for either or both members of a mixed orientation marriage or relationship working to remain monogamous. "Mixed orientation"" means that the sexual orientations of the two persons involved do not match. This includes any combination of GLBTQS persons (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, questioning, straight). "Monogamous" means that the partners are sexually exclusive with each other. All are encouraged to request admission to our group.
Mismatched orientations can be difficult to manage, especially in a monogamous relationship. Our group exists so that all kinds of people in monogamous mixed orientation situations can share their experiences with each other, receive input from others, and participate in a positive and supportive community.
