PFLAG Jackson Meeting: Opening Statement.
"We are gathered because each of us have learned that someone we love or care about is either Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered. We want to help each other and ourselves deal with this information in a positive and mature manner. We want to learn from each other, and eventually be content with ourselves and with those we love who happen to be gay. Although we do not agree at all times, we try to be understanding of one another. We do have a common bond...a Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered relative or friend. We strive to keep an open mind, and are here to offer help to any relative or friend of a gay, who shows a desire to be helped.
We most earnestly welcome new members and encourage all to attend as many meetings as possible, for their own benefit and that of our group. It is our hope that, when each of us reaches a point of understanding and acceptance of our gay loved ones, we realize that is when the group and its members need us the most.
What is said here stays. Confidentiality, is important to most of us for one reason or another, and at all times we must respect each others rights.
Welcome to PFLAG - Jackson".
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead
