Labradoodles are known for their outstanding intelligence and trainability. The other wonderful traits of this very popular breed are they are allergy friendly, low to non-shedding and lack doggie odor. They have a life expectancy of 13-15 years. This breed craves human company and excels as a companion for those with disabilities, the visually impaired, young children, the elderly, as well as being a wonderful hunting and retrieving dog. They are also excelling in agility trials. Doodles are incredibly loyal to their families and make excellent watch dogs. They come in many colors: apricot, black, brown, cafe-au-lait, creams, gold, red and silver. The first generation (F1's) coat types range from the retrievers coat type to the poodles coat type, but most have a coat that is wavy. The 2nd generation doodles (F1B's) have a curlier coat type and are more allergy friendly and non-shedding, they are 3/4 poodle. Then there are the multi-generational doodles.
Being a mixed breed, they tend to be healthier than the full bred labrador retrievers or poodles simply because they won't have the genetic problems of a full breed.
