Would you like to exchange homes with us?

Unfortunately, we are booked for 2010. See our web site at
http://nancyandpatrick.maddsites.com/main/index.htm for more information.

We are Homelink members (US16509,) and Intervac members (UHI194.) We are both in our seventies and retired. We are experienced exchangers.

Our home is in Kailua-Kona, on the western shore of the 'Big Island' of Hawaii, about 400 kilometers by sea (and 40 minutes by air) from Honolulu. This is the sunny side of the island, where most of the tourist hotels and other attractions are located. There is a lot to do: one tourist magazine is entitled '101 Things to Do on the Big Island.'

Our home is 'modern Hawaiian' in style, 10 years new, with a spectacular ocean view, in a rural location at a cool 270 meters elevation, about 5 kilometers from the shore. It is single story, and has three bedrooms: a master bedroom with a king size bed, a guest bedroom with a queen size bed, and a den/bedroom. All of the bedrooms have a television. The kitchen is modern, with electric stove, dishwasher and microwave oven. The living room, dining room, family room, and kitchen are a single open space with a high, open-beamed ceiling. There are two bathrooms: one in the master suite with a large bathtub, and the washer and dryer. The other bathroom has a shower and is between the two smaller bedrooms. The house is not air conditioned, but is open to the ocean and mountain breezes through screened doors and windows. There are ceiling fans in every room. We are allergic to animals, so we have no pets. We are allergic to tobacco smoke.

The garden has papayas, pineapple, and citrus fruit which you may pick for your dining table. The garden has automatic irrigation, so no care on your part is needed.

A car is necessary; we have one car, a 2005 Honda Accord, 5-passenger, with air conditioning and automatic transmission, which we offer to you in exchange for the use of your auto. There are photographs of our home at the Internet site listed above.

The 'Big Island' has a warm, pleasant climate, with many beach and water activities for your pleasure. It is noted for sport fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling, since the waters are usually calm and the fish are abundant. The other main attraction is the active volcano, which fortunately, is on the east (Hilo) side of the island, about 150 kilometers distant. There are also many Hawaiian cultural sites and activities to explore throughout the island. Our airport, 12 kilometers distant, is served by United Airlines with direct flights from California, as well as service from Honolulu.

If this arrangement interests you, please telephone us (consider that our time may be many hours earlier than yours), or E-mail (pc70@cornell.edu). Please include details and photographs of your offering.
