Betrayal, Break Ups, Trust, Disillusionment, Worry
Whether it’s Religious disillusionment or some other plight, Life will often hurt us. People, places, and things will hurt us. The need for God, Security, and Truth is a nature desire. Yet problems, pains, and uncertainties (Murphy's Law) consistently plague us. The Prophet Jeremiah said, "You fooled me, Lord". Jesus asked, "My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me". God struck the priest who was merely attempting to prevent the ark's fall. This judgment seemed unfair to King David, and he drifted away from God thereafter.
You may have been deceived, manipulated, and betrayed by a religious group (or someone/thing else). You may be very confused. You may have pushed these events far away and feel that you've "gotten over it". You may now have a "don't trust anyone" mentality. You may now doubt God's Love/Fairness/Truthfulness (as King David did). You may feel that from now on, you're going to look out for yourself first. You may be so confused, or anxious (such as guilt, or doubt), that you don't know what to do.
At this point, I want you to know that I've been there. I go babble about my relentless devotion to a renowned religious organization. I could rant about how I was used, betrayed, deceived, and "left for dead" (spiritual casting away). But God had a plan in all of that anxiety. Just as God had a plan when he allowed King Saul to hunt David, allowed Joseph to be beat down and incarcerated, and allowed Satan to attack Job.
So then the question is not really the Truthfulness of God. The question is do we want to continue to grow with God during uncertainties or pain? Some of you may be saying, "No way dude. I will never devout myself to God or religion again. I will never go through anything like that again. Who really knows how true any of this is?"
Guess what? I would never encourage anyone to walk in blind faith. Earth's leaders have kept the world spiritually dark by insisting on, "Obey us. We have all the answers. God speaks through us. We're in control". That's Hogwash. Most humans are out for self and will say anything to satisfy their lust or egos. Turn on any religious program, or visit any religious website. 99% of them are asking for your money, contributions, or implying God's dissatisfaction if these things are not contributed.
God never wanted any of us to be robots (organized to a purpose). Think back. How many times did common sense or other observers warn you not to listen? Yet we chose to obey "Jehovah", humans, religion, our own sense of self-righteousness, or someone/thing else. God struck the priest, because King David (and Israel) did not consult God's Law. If they had consulted God's Law, they would have secured the ark the way Commanded. There would have been no need for human flesh to touch God's Holy Things.
"God is a Spirit. Those worshipping Him must worship in Spirit and Truth". God will lead you in Love (John 3:16) without human leadership, religion, or any other "human agency".
So the first step is to "LET GO". That's right BREATH. I know it's hard. I know you feel you wasted so much of you life. I know you're still thinking about the past. Friends, family and former religious members might be on you mind. "LET IT GO". Let me give you an example.
You want to learn the Martial Arts. You go to your teacher. He is a wise, controlled, and structured man. He doesn't talk much or show much emotion, but when he does, it's impactful! Your teacher rushes you into a tournament match. You don't think you're ready. He just keeps rushing you. You try to tell him that you're not ready. He keeps telling you to do your exercises in preparation for the match. The match occurs and you get your "self" handed to you like Christmas! You lay on the mat. You're embarrassed. It seems like everyone is laughing at you. You want to quit. You are furious with your Teacher. You want nothing else to do with him or his training. Your teacher does not visit you on your back on the mat. He regresses into the locker room. You eventually pick yourself (and your pride up) and come into the locker room. Your human side wants revenge. You want to curse your Teacher out. But your "nice guy" side says to your Sensi (with your head down), "I'm new. I wasn't ready. Your Teacher looks directly at you, pulls your head up with His Right Hand, and says, "You were ready". You tearfully look at him and say, "But I Lost". The Teacher looks away from you, and focuses on the Tournament Mat (with His Right Hand still upon your face), through the Locker Room Door. He then says, "You now realize what will happen to you if you do not totally prepare yourself for the Mat. The Mat is Life".
You and I met well. We thought we were in the "True Religion". That's funny. The Bible says that only God is True and that every human is a sinner and a liar (John 4:24). Our life on planet Earth has very little to do with "Truth". Do you want to argue with me? Argue with me! How many totally truthful people or associations do you know? Let's say you answer three or more. There are over six billion people on this planet. God never, ever wanted anyone wasting his or her time seeking "Truth". Yes, I know Jesus said, "seek the Truth and the Truth will set you free".
The young boy was "set free" when he got KNOCKED OUT ON THE MAT OF LIFE. You and I became "set free" when we realized that our religious beliefs, associations, or anything else cannot SAVE us. These things were idols. Only God can save us. Only God can be the Light To our Path. Joseph became "set free" when he toughened up, stopped being a "better than thou" "goody to shoes", and successfully performed the actual service that God willed for him (Administrator of the World). Job was "set free" from equating Self Righteousness based on his own personal works and interpretations.
Do I appear to be babbling? You might feel that this information is so extreme. Well let's change the tone to how you can enjoy your present life. But we will return to your Spiritual Growth as well.
Stop judging people (Matthew 7:1-5). Yes our world can be dark, dysfunctional, Satanic, cruel and very immoral. That's why the Teacher allowed the boy to be brutally defeated. The boy now knew, what Life was really like, and what to prepare for. He became a better student of the Art (of Life). He disciplined himself to stay away from anything that would weaken his performance and progress. So stop judging others. Just be careful where you go, who you are around, and who you communicate with. Enjoy life. Don't fret over mistakes. Most importantly, make your personal Spiritual walk with God the Priority (Matthew 6: 25-33).
You may have strong (but mixed) feelings about other people. I can only encourage you to be extremely careful. Most people will bring drama into your life. You have to know what you can and cannot handle. Shun the human nature of blaming other people for your actions or decisions. That lame action goes all the way back to Adam and Eve.
So seek the Spirit. God is a Spirit (John 4:24). God's World is Spirit (Psalm 104:1-5; John 3:1-10). I strongly suggest regularly reading and studying the Authorized King James Bible. Some may want to argue about Bible Translations. As a 40 year Bible student and researcher, I'd strongly recommend this translation of God's Word (Psalm 119:105). Pray to God about everything in your life. DON'T LIE TO GOD. HE ALREADY KNOWS! Open Honestly with God will increase your Friendship with Him. Now here's the tough part. Never be Naive or unsuspecting, but minimize the negativisms in your life. Don't feel guilty when you cut off "friends", family, entertainment, or anything that brings Negativity (negative energy=Satan) into your life. A perfect example of this is a former boyfriend or girlfriend. If you two are always bickering (like children), then maybe it's time to "grow up" into adulthood. God will not wait for you to grow up! God will leave you to all the "youthful foolish" ways of this life. Also important is cultivating optimistic energy in you life. Let's look at a few examples.
Your car is broke down. Are you going to "bitch and moan", or are you going to come up with a realistic plan to deal with the situation? You just got laid off. Again, are you going to "blame God", "get drunk", or are you going to step in action. Many women respect and desire such men. "Tick tack" bickering is unbecoming to a male. A woman, employers, and others will respect a "man" of God.
The most important advice I can offer is to shun any "right' "wrong' mentality. Ecclesiastes reproves the "righteous over much" attitude. It's good to want to change the world. But this world has been in sin since the Garden of Eden. Sin (Darkness-Evil) and Righteousness (Light-Good) both play a part in God's Plan (Isaiah 45:5-7; Genesis 1:1-5; John 1:1-5). Good and Evil were here long before you, and will be here long after you. So don't get caught up on doctrines, beliefs, or wondering who is right or wrong. Seek the Light of God, Which is Love (John 3:16). You will get along better with other people, co-workers, and any "lovers" in your life. Bickering, arguing, and negative (ill) feelings are strong signs or spiritual immaturity and negative energy (Satan).
It's a great feeling, isn't it? You can start today. JUST BREATHE AND LET IT GO. Don't blame any one or anything. Your TEACHER maneuvered your "Beat Down" to teach you the Truth (about Life and Human sin). Now it's up to you to BREATH, get up, shake the dust (and anxiety off), and become the student that you claimed to want to be. Only now, do it the TEACHER'S way and not your own (Psalm 100:3).
