The Order Of St. Francis Of The Renewal

"Follow me as I folow Christ" (1 Cor. 11:1) are the teachings of the apostle Paul, and "Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace..." is the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, as they try to bring the message of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the world. For some of us, the life and example of St. Francis of Assisi, is the perfect way to bring Christ's message to those around us, through example. For those who are called to this kind of ministry, The OSFR is an instrument to do so.

The challenge of Franciscan spirituality is to challenge your ideas of your own spirituality. To examine your spiritual life through the eyes of God, and through the Words of His Holy Bible, one can only say that they fall short of who God intends us to be: To live as Christ lived is the commandment of God and our utmost endeavor.

The Order OF St. Francis Of The Renewal is a religious Order set within the National Catholic Church of North America, and subscribes to the basic faith of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. The OSFR is set up as a vehicle for you to answer your call to ministry. The OSFR has certain guidelines for the "way of life" that is practiced by those who have been inducted as Brothers and Sisters in the service of Christ and His Church, and is an Order of Christians with a unique vocational call to ministry: a call to service. A call to service meaning, putting the love of Christ into action; giving care to all people regardless of race, color, or creed.

For we are all the family of God, through Jesus Christ.

Have you ever pledged a life of service to God? Well, if you serve God, the naturally you will serve others. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was not above serving others (Jn. 13:5), and also admonished us to serve others (Mt. 20:28).

Our patron saint was not comforable with the fact that he was part of the ruling class of the town of Assisi, and when he understood the visions that God had given him, he cast off those benefits and took upon himself the mantle of servitude.

The Rule and life of St. Francis of Assisi is the "Prime Directive" for those in the Order to live by and strive for. It is doubtful that anyone will ever truly understand the scope of the spiritual communion that Francis shared with the Lord, but it is our common belief within the Order, that we should strive for that kind of relationship with God.

The Rule and life of St. Francis is our blueprint and thus our prime directive. Please take note of four key points from St. Francis' life for those of the Order to follow. We in no way would even think to sum up his ministry in these key points, but we feel they are important for all Christians to live by:
-To feed and clothe, visit and comfort those in need.
-To work for the salvation of those God has placed in our way.
-To be obedient to Christ as His disciples, as far as human
frailty allows.
-To maintain an active prayer and devotional life, always keeping
an attitude of prayer.
