Itinerary
Day 1 - July 22nd. Arrive in Sedona at the Days Inn Motel. See motel info below. Meet and greet and make plans for some supper. The Sedona and Oak Creek area is often picked as one the most beautiful places in the lower 48 states. The Sedona Red Rocks are well known for their spiritual qualities and inner being and physical healing powers. I love the place and I do feel better visiting Sedona. I'll take folks to some easy access spiritual vortex sites. You can decide for yourself. We might do a vortex site this evening that's close by and easy to walk to.
Day 2 - July 23rd. Ride to the Outskirts of Flagstaff and maybe visit Sunset Crater. We will ride through Famous Oak Creek Canyon on a nicely paved twisty road. Plenty of Photo Ops. Some might want to venture 30 miles east from Flagstaff down I-40 to the Meteor Crater exit and check that out. About 100 to 200 miles of riding depending on what you chose to do. I have Red Rocks Vortex walks planned for the evening sunset times. These are easy walks and provide incredible photo ops.
Day 3 - July 24th. Ride to Prescott Through the famous mining mountainside town of Jerome including a ride of over 130 curves in 12 miles. Great fun riding and cool historic and lively old west stops. About 200 miles of riding depending on personal preferences. Lots of places to explore on this day. Jerome is considered by many as the most haunted ghost town in the West. Plenty of "live" folks live there however...
Day 4 - July 25th. We head west to our next motel in Pinetop, the Best Western Inn Pinetop. See motel info below. Along the backroads we'll visit Montezuma's Castle and some other famous stops. Probably about 200 miles of riding
Day 5 - July 26th. Our Poker Run Loop ride which includes 1100 curves in 95 miles and 300 miles overall of curves and twists that will take us into New Mexico for a good part of the day. This is Old Highway 666 - the Devils Highway. It was recently renamed Hwy 191.You will be thrilled as you experience this incredibly twisty & steep wild ride in Eastern Arizona. It's one of the very best motorcycling roads in North America. Take your time and enjoy the scenery or ride with a fast group. Just have fun and stay on the pavement. LOL
Day 6 - July 27th. We'll sleep in late and explore Famous Ft. Apache and other places. You might want to visit nearby Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. Not far away is the VLA or Very Large Array Radio Telescopes in New Mexico. You might remember them from the Movie 2010. For those traveling from afar this might be a great day to rest before heading home. Do as you wish and enjoy.
Day 7 - July 28th. Pack up and say your goodbyes and hit the road for wherever. Take those pics, vids and great memories with you. :o)
Rooms at the Sedona Days Inn are $80 for a single King and $85 for a room with two doubles plus tax. We'll get one of the highest customer rated motels in Sedona. I talked to some folks at the COC an other places and they agree it's really nice place for the money.
You must state you are with the LC FORUM to get the group discount for the nights of July 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. Do not go online to make reservations. Regular rates are $95 to $115 per night or higher. If you have any problem at all have the desk person contact Nora. She is the one who set this up with me and input the info into the motel computer system. Everything should go smooth!
This is important - room rates are subject to change until they are reserved. DO NOT PROCRASTNATE!!! Your credit card will NOT actually be charged when you make a reservation but you need to reserve early - as soon as possible to avoid a rate hike. The rumor is room rates will go up for next year. We are ready to reserve rooms right now. :o)
There are 24 double bed rooms and 37 with single Kings. Reserve now to get the room you want. I cannot stress that enough.
For Pinetop on July 25th, 26th and 27th contact the Best Western Motel in Pinetop at 928-367-6667. The manager John has set up a very good rate of $75 per night when it's normally $109. This is a great deal at a nice motel. You must tell them you are with the LC Forum to get the special rate and leave a CC# to make the reservation. Your Credit card will not be charged. Make reservations early. There are only 40 rooms in this Motel.CLICK HERE FOR MAP OF GATHERIN' AREA - FOLLOW THE RED DOTS FOR MAIN RIDING ROUTES
