And from Frank Walls-- I and three other yesterday heroes are working(?) on a team of nine for a rental car company moving cars hither and thither throughout the Las Vegas Valley. And sometimes across state lines to Arizona, Calif. and Utah. This lowly paid position in life is enjoyable as one is only responsible for their decisions and it keeps us out from underfoot at home. It's a no brainer, however one must be alert, defensive and lucky to drive up to 32 hours a week in the Las Vegas traffic mess without getting rear ended. I have been making up to $200 a week which pays for my gas to and from work and my daily lunch, a beer now and then and a turn at the blackjack tables once a month. The kid in the group turned 65 two weeks ago and the eldest is 79. I'm a strong 75 with selective hearing. I work 9-5, four days a week though most only work three days a week. No benefits as it's a part time job. However, there isn't any harassment to speak of. I bring this exulted position to the forefront as I'm enjoying it and there are very few jobs that I could acquire at my age and with my hearing loss. I'll add that there is only one member who needs the money the rest of us are doing it as an activity versus volunteerism. These jobs are available throughout the U.S. and I think that retired military are preferred as it's pretty easy to run a background check on us.

(But it isn't all enjoyable as Frank writes in another note)

I have been extremely busy myself; last pay check was for over $500 clear. Drove a car to Salt Lake City and then was flown back; I had a layover of about four hours at the Salt Lake Airport so went into an Airport Lounge and ordered a martini. The waitress asked me for identification and I responded, "What for?" She answered, "Proof of age." I was flabbergasted and blurted out that I'd guess her age to be between 35 and 40 (being
charitable) and that I was drinking martinis before she was born. She said that by State law all must be carded before being served an alcoholic drink. I refused to show her ID and she refused to serve me. The manager showed up and we also had a bit of a discussion.
