From Dick Nagel:
I've had no further episodes of arterial fibrillation for several
months now - the change in meds seems to be working.
I had an MRI of my spine
--my inability to walk without pain seems to be related to two leaking discs impinging on the nerves in the lower spine. I've had no back pain
--just real nasty leg pain.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all from both of us.
Dick and Betty
From Ray Smith:
Edith and I are still plugging away, each year it gets tougher with our
health. My years of smoking have left Edith with emphysema.
I got bored with sitting at home and
went to work again. I am the Records Management Aide to the Town of Long Lake, Town Clerk. That says nothing; I actually work in the Town Archives. It is a relatively new, separate building, about the size of a C-141cockpit. All the town's old records and historical artifacts are stored here and I am in
7th heaven. I have been into genealogy and history for quite some time and now they actually are paying me for it.
Best regards to everyone from a very snowbound Long Lake, NY.

From John Ferris:
Merry Christmas Classmates,
Thanks for the reunion in San Antonio, we had a blast. The thunder and lightning that one evening was unnecessary. Vida had
never heard thunder and seen lightning like that before. I don't think too many wives had either; at least there was a lot of screaming going on. It was wonderful seeing old friends and with the inclusion of the rest of 1957 classes, we met some new friends.
I am still doing genealogy and have over 66,000 names in my database, doing Worker's Compensation Audits all over Northern California and then I am still the Bowling Association Manager, issuing cards and awards. So sometimes I spell retired "retarded" instead.
We had a very thankful Thanksgiving and all four of our children were there, plus three spouses, 9 of 11 grandchildren and two of the four great grand-
children. Then we had a few others just to round out the 26 in attendance.
Vida and I wish everyone had a very fruitful and thankful Thanksgiving and wish each and everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

From Dave Ogilvie:
Today, December 4th, is our 54th Wedding Anniversary! Cathy and I are truly amazed :-) We've had our ups and downs but most of the time has been a pleasure for both of us. We've moved so many times it's hard to count. Our first boy was born in Germany and our second in Texas while I was still in OCS. I'm sure that some of you may remember that day because I got the day off :-)
We have now been living in the same home for 28 years! Our sons have grown up and brought five grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren into our lives.
We don't get around much anymore. Son Terry lives just a few miles from us and has been the place where we gather for the holiday for the past couple of years. It becomes a mini family reunion and a chance to meet some of the people our Grandkids are socializing with :-)
Well, all in all, we're doing fine and haven't had any serious medical problems. We do have to be a little more careful when we take our daily walk so we don't trip on anything. Seems we do tend to do that...along with forgetting why we just went into the next room. ha!
We wish you all a Merry Christmas,
Dave and Cathy Ogilvie

Les sent a beautiful picture of a winter scene but it was too large to include in this newsletter.

Wishing All The OCS Classmates A Merry
Christmas And A Wonderful, Prosperous New Year
From Bob Lee:
The highlight of our year was the OCS reunion of last spring. I urge anyone who didn't go to San Antonio to come to the next reunion. I wish we could meet every year.
Another highlight was our surprisingly good health all year (considering our advanced ages!).
My personal golfing highlight was a 71 at age 73 (from the senior tee's of course), on a par 70 course. My goal now is to improve on that.
Our new hobby is to take in the small town festivals in our area, and there are many. There are various entertainments-tractor pulls, live music, carnivals, flea markets, etc. Very interesting.
We are considering a two or three month trip to Arizona this winter. Ed Berg and his wife have relocated to Apache Junction and it would be a good break from our winter weather to spend some time there. Ed is a great golf partner and his wife is very good company too.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
From Ben Larsen:
Alma and I are aboard the cruise
ship, MS Amsterdam and tomorrow we will be sailing through the Panama Canal. It is costing 55
dollars to send e-mail from the cruise ship but you guys
are definitely worth it. We will be home in beautiful Alaska for
Christmas.
Seasons Greetings to all,
Ben and Alma Larsen
From Nan Burer:
All is well here in Schertz, TX and we wish each and every one of you OCSers a BLESSED CHRISTMAS and a New Year full of blessings.
Art is slowly going down hill but he still knows me when I visit with him. He sometimes remembers our youngest daughter when she visits because she has gone to see him as often as possible. The other kids and grandkids are not in his memory box. I believe that GOD has left a tiny brain cell with my name on it and that is why he remembers me. He is physically healthy although he is bound to a wheel chair. It is sad to see this vital man in such condition but I know that GOD has a special reason for it.
Again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Love,
Art and Nan
