I was born during the Great Depression in 1933 and raised and educated in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I worked for one year in a factory, as college funds were not available. In 1952, I convinced three buddies into enlisting in the Air Force. For me, the rest is history.

Military History:

I enlisted in AF in May 1952, and attended basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas. After basic, I was assigned to the Human Resourses Research Center at Lowry AFB, Colorado. In July 1954, I was transferred to the Directorate OSI, Washington, DC. Shirley and I were married at the Bolling AFB chapel in 1955 and our son was born in 1956.

In July 1956, as a staff sergeant, I was transferred to the OSI Detachment in Chicago, Illinois. My wife and I stayed in Missouri, while I attended OCS from March to September 1957. I then went to Weapons Controller School at Tyndall AFB in Florida, where our second son was born. This was followed by a remote tour in northern Japan.

Having transferred from Japan back to Tyndall AFB, Florida in January 1959, I was assigned as a weapons controller instructor. Our third son was born during this tour. In May 1961, I was sent to the University of Oklahoma to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering, under the AFIT program. During my follow-on tour as a SAC fuels officer at March AFB, California, our first daughter was born.

In June 1965, I was sent to Goose AB, Labrador, again as a SAC fuels officer. This was followed by assignment in the same capacity, to Westover AFB, Massachusetts. In 1969, I was fortunate to once again be selected for yet another AFIT program, and earned my Master of Science in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.

The next year brought me to Lackland AFB, Texas, where I served as a computer officer in the Comptroller shop. Two years later, 1972, I was sent to the US Readiness Command at MacDill AFB, Florida, where I served as a Systems Operations Officer.

I retired in December 1974, as a major.

I went back to school, and in 1975 I received a BS in Accounting from the University of Tampa, and then served as a supervisor of audit services, for the State of Florida. I retired from that job in 1995.

In all, I spent twenty-three years in the Air Force and over nineteen years working for the State of Florida. I’ve been married for more than forty-four years, have four children and nine grandchildren. We are in great health at this time, with no major health problems. We have lived in the same house in Tampa since 1972.

So, here it is . . . biography completed!
