A History of Metal.
Heavy Metal and its various subgenres(thrash,rap-metal,death metal, etc.) have been around
for about 30 years, and that has given it enough time to evolve into the most
hated music in the world. But really, if parents and teeny-boppers gave a chance
to this contreversial genre, then maybe it would be more enjoyed. Ugh...then again,
who wants to see their Grandma headbanging to Black Sabbath, right? In any case,
metal spans various generations and is very widespread in terms of description.
Back in 1970, Black Sabbath was the only real metal band out there. In the space
of 9 years, only one other real metal band came out. This was Iron Maiden. But,
in the 80s and 90s, metal became more and more popular, as in the space of ten
years, more than 30 different bands popped up. But not all of them were good.
And in the 90s, another crop of bands popped up, but not a great deal of them
were good. Rap-metal, a snide parody of metal was introduced with Limp Bizkit(many
think Korn was the first, but they don't deserve that insult), and many more travesties
were to come. But, in 1999 a rebirth of metal happened. Bands like System of A
Down, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Finger 11 and the list goes on came up to save metal
as we know it. Thankfully, these bands had members much older than those of the
c-rap-metal bands' members, which thus meant they were familiar with classic metal
stylings. Moreover, Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath fame started a tour which featured
members of 'nu-metal' bands and old-school bands together to raise awareness for
newer bands called Ozzfest. Thus, metal was ressurected. Headbanging started and
was shortly after renamed as "moshing" due to the fans ( known as 'moshers';)
high demand for headbanging.Thus concludes the history of metal.
Most Nu Metal bands use bad language and curses in their songs however, when aired
on Tv or radio the bad language is usually blocked out.My favourite all time metal band has to be Nirvana.
Nu Metal today has a wide range of groups. Due to the teenage demand for rebellion a lot of bands have shown teens that they can do anything if they set their heart on it and believe.
I, myself have been influenced by a lot of groups since i started listening to alternative music some 4 years ago.
There are many websites today that catch the influences of which i speak.These have to be viewed
in order to catch the main understanding of what a 'mosher' is all about.
