None of The Above is devoted to exposing and exploring the corporate owned and operated US political machines, which are the indispensable bases of the burgeoning fascist police state. A good way to start dismantling the US political (and war)machine is to begin creating in every town and city a movement independent of the major parties which will publish their own local newsletter, newspaper, website -- in order to inform, expose, agitate, educate and ultimately run independent candidates for all local elected offices. A national network of such local movements will likely evolve rapidly after a number of them begin achieving some of their goals.

DEAR NONE OF THE ABOVE,
As I read literature such as yours, earnestly exhorting the "people" to transform ourselves...I wonder what could we do --- in the practical realm of our visceral reality --- to start making a real difference?
Now we can talk about "transformation," "solidarity" and all sorts of buzz words to convince ourselves that we're really making a difference. But the truth is: WE'RE NOT! We are losing the war to the "flagrantly evil oligarchic establishment" that is reviled so eloquently in your newsletter.
The answer, my friends, is as clear as the streets --- the arteries of our lives --- are venues for the techno-industrial obliteration ---not only of our fragile environment --- but of our teetering spirituality as well. These channels of commerce and self-indulgent "comfort zones" must be challenged as they have become the harbingers of global ecological disaster. Moreover, in our obsession for privacy and comfort we have atomized the human interpersonal experience to the point of generating such isolation, loneliness and alienation that only the pharmaceutical industry, psychotherapists and the lawyers administering to this duress, reap any reward from our blindness.
The way to resist this erosion of our environmental, spiritual and social potential is with annual AUTOMOBILE MORATORIUMS. In other words: Mandatory street clowures throughout entire towns, cities, etc. --- in the name of saving ourselves from our own stupidity, greed and well documented propensity to self-destruct. Difficult? Of course. Impractical? Perhaps. But when you consider what this country sacrificed to "win the world" just a couple of generations ago, STREET CLOSURES ARE A PIECE OF CAKE!
We don't have to become fanatics either. ANNUAL street closures, in even a few towns (for a start) would have tremendous symbolic and psycho-political value. And just imagine what INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOBILE MORATORIUMS could accomplish in terms of advancing the agenda of REAL PEOPLE'S POWER!
Obviously, this would take a lot of hard political activity. But CAR FREE DAYS can open up the streets to REAL COMMUNITY --- you know --- the one we can see, smell and touch --- not the one out there in the ethers of cyberspace that everyone is being herded into my venture capitalists and the geeks of programming us into social-spititual oblivion!
This can, should and must be done to begin implementing the values espoused by the millennium movement to avoid "global, social and environmental meltdown." The alternative is more of the Jerry Brown type rhetorical revolutionary blabber. Take your pick!

BACK TO THE SOURCE

Like the Roman empire, the Stalinist, Babylonian, Greek, Nazi, Persian, British and Spanish empires (to name only a few of the larger ones) were built on fear, hatred, brute force --- all the lower, less evolved propensities of the human species. The present day US empire is certainly no exception. Because of its size and the advanced technology at its disposal, Imperial USA is the most far-reachingly destructive empire that has yet existed.
What historically has been effective against these evil empires? The more highly evolved abilities have been indispensable to any successful revolution: including the first generation of the Socialist Revolution 80 years ago, and the first generation of the Christian Revolution 2000 years ago --- before they became religions; i.e. before they were sold out by self-seeking priests, politicians, and other "leaders."
Gandhi, the modern apostle of non-violent political direct action, made it very clear that he would have advocated the use of force had the circumstances called for it, and that his movement's method of nonviolence was a strategic decision: nonviolent action was the only way to win independence from the British empire.
Similar conditions exist today in some countries, and in the ghettos and prisons of this country: any attempt to use physical force in self-defense against the overwhelmingly physically powerful oppressor would not only be suicidal. It would also fortify the oppressor even more by strengthening the popular (though false) illusion of our helplessness which they of course promote at every opportunity.
We are not helpless.
We are the vastly overwhelming majority and we have righteousness and logic on our side, against the tiny, flagrantly evil oligarchic Establishment which rules by keeping us divided into groups large and small which are carefully taught to fear and envy --- and therefore hate --- each other: race, caste, class, religious and political sects, the imprisoned and the not yet imprisoned, the jobless and the not yet unemployed, the documented and the undocumented, the housed and the unhoused.
This alienation among groups is FOSTERED AND MANIPULATED by the Establishment elites in order to maintain their power. Therefore unity, love and solidarity can be accomplished only through non-Establishment philosophies and practices such as those we will be giving space to on these None of The Above websites. Our most fervent hope --- and probably the only hope --- is that the selfless work of the world's grass-roots political and spiritual groups will create critical mass before it is too late to turn back the tide of global social and environmental meltdown; that the long awaited and predicted chain reaction will unleash the just and irresistable power of human solidarity and ecological sanity.
