Welcome to our List of Greek Rivers
This is a satellite page of the main website of TEAMadara, a group of paddling enthousiasts, living and paddling in Greece.
Here we list the Greek rivers, with the most whitewater interest. We post minimum information, like the put in and the take out of the suggeted parts of river, the approximate length, the general difficulty and the type of river.
In difficulty rating, we use the international scale I to VI. I personnaly agree with many paddlers opinion, that a change should be considered in the difficulty grading scale, especially by opening the upper end. But such a change, should be unanimus, considering the many different opinions and be applied transitionally, in order to avoid disoriantating the paddling community. Read more on that issue, in our Grading article.
Here, we present the general difficulty of the river, giving the maximum difficulty inside parenthesis.
Attention:At a few cases, where there is an * following the name of the river, the information comes directly from guidebooks and isn't verified. The difficulties we report apply to a medium flow, but they may as well have changed, after a flooding, so you better scout. Please read our disclaimer

The type of the run is presented either as "river-run" (R), or "Play-run" (P), or Creek (C), or a combination of these.North-west (Epirus):

- Aheron (R-C) 12km III (IV+),(1X) from Seriziana to Glyki
- Arahthos 1(R-P) 7km III (IV) from to Ampelohori bridge 2(R-P) 9km III (III+) from Ampelohori to Plaka
- Kalaritikos 1(R-C) 6km III (IV) from Christoi to Mihalitsi 2(R) 4km III from Mihalitsi to the confluense with Arahthos, 1km before Ampelohori
- Lakmos 1 (C) 4km IV from Chaliki to Anthoussa 2 (C) 10km III (IV), from Anthoussa to Tripotama
- Kamneitikos* 1 (C) 4km IV+ (VI), 1 possible X, from Neraidochori to Pira 2 (C) 11km III (III+), 1 possible X, from Pira to the confluense with Acheloos, 9(fast) km to Messochora dam.
- Petriliotiko* (R-C) 20km III (IV) from Rossis to Petroto confluense with Acheloos (Sykia dam)
- Acheloos 1 (R-P) 20 (fast)km II (III) from Tripotama to Messochora dam 2 (R-P) 8km II from Avlaki to Vrouviana.
North-East (Makedonia)
- Aliakmonas 1 (R-C) 20km II,III (IV+) upstream of Pefkos to Nestorio (Kastoria area) 2 (R-P) 6km II (III+) from Venetikos confluense to Felli 3 (R) 6km I & 6km III,IV,V from Tournikiou Monastery to Zavordas Monastery before the dam (Grevena area)
- Mileopotamos (R-C) 12km IV (IV+) from Mikrolivado to Spileo (take out before the unrunnable canyon)
- Venetikos 1 (R-P) 12km II from Trikomo-Monahiti road bridge to Pigaditsa bridge 2 (R-P) 9km II from Eleftherohori Bridge to the confluense with Aliakmonas
East (Thessalia)
- Mourgani (C) 12km IV,V,VI, at least 1X, from Koniskos-Foteino bridge to Agia Triada.
Central Greece(Sterea)
- Krikelopotamos (R-C) 20km III,IV (IV+) from Krikelo-Domnista road bridge to the confluense with Karpenissiotis at Dipotama
- Karpenissiotis* (C) 6km III,IV from Karitsa to Dipotama
- Trikeriotis (R-P) 12km II (III) Forms from the confluese of Karpenissiotis and Krikelopotamos. Put in at Karitsa-Proussos bridge. Take out before the Kremasta reservoir
- Agrafiotis* 1 (C) 4km IV (V) the cave section, from Trovato to Vrangiana 2 (R-C) 10km III (IV) from Vrangiana to Karvasaras 3 (R-P) 10km I,II from Karvasaras to Kremasta reservoir
- Tavropos (R-P) 23km II,III (IV) Put in on the left tributary Sarandoporo 3km above the confluense with Tavropos. Take out at Dafni-Papadia road bridge.
- Inahos (R-C) 6km IV & 6km II from Perivoli to the dam of Agios Sostis. Possible take out at the end of the first 6km part where a hydroelectric work is in progress.
- Mornos 1 (C) 7km IV (V) from Stromi to Mousounitsa 2 (R) 15km III (IV) with 1 possible X, from Mousounitsa to Lefkaditi-Kalio road bridge
- Evinos (R-P) 10km II (III) from Poros to Chani Mpania
- Fidakia 1 (C) 4km III,IV from Thermo-Drymonas road bridge, to Mandra bridge 2 (R) 4km III to Evinos confluense & 3km II to Chrisovitsa-Achladokastro road bridge.
South (Peloponessos)
- Loussios 1 (C) 4km IV-V, 1 double rapid section X, from Ancient Gortis arc bridge to Atsiholos-Karytaina bridge. Trip Report 2 (R-P) 3km III from Atsiholos bridge to the confluense with Alfios
- Alfios 1 (R-P) 3km II,III (III+) from Loussios confluense to Koukos bridge (road from Vlahoraptis) 2 (R-P) 9km II, III (IV) from Koukos bridge to Matesi
- Erymanthos 1 (R-C) 14km III,IV (V-), 1 possible X, from Tripotama to Vidiaki 2 (R-C) 11km II,III (IV) from Vidiaki to Elaia bridge.
