Our page of rivers

The rivers we run, may not be the expedition style, totally remote and rarely paddled rivers, or the super steep extreme runs that we usually see in paddling films, so if you expect to see something like that, don't waste your web time here, go to our extreme links page.

The rivers we enjoy paddling, are flowing through scenic gorges, offering enjoyable class III to technical class IV stretches. We enjoy visiting the same rivers from time to time, as they keep changing with water's ups and downs. Our favorites? Hard to tell. Every one has it's charm! One for the play, one for the steeps, one for the surroundings.

But here are the ones we have visited and enjoyed the most:
  • Peloponessos:
    Upper Loussios, Alfios, Erimanthos
  • Central Greece (Sterea):
Inahos, Krikelopotamos, Mornos and Upper Mornos, Evinos, Fidakia
  • Epiros:
    Aherontas, Arahthos, Kalaritikos, Aoos
  • Thessalia (Grevena range):
    Venetikos, Aliakmonas, Mileopotamos, Mourgani.

In our List of Rivers, you can see some more rivers and details.

Sometimes we go for a single day run of a familiar small river close to Athens, sometimes we seek the adventure in a still unrunnable river, or in a small unknown tributary. Some times, things don't turn the right way, but that's another story worth to be told.

We will share these stories with you in our trip reports and tales.

We expect your stories too! Don't be shy. We all need someone to lough with, or someone who will make us think. Be either one!

River profiles are slowly taking their final form, as we enhance our heartbreaking-hairrising stories, with river data, maps and photo galleries.

In the river data list you may see what kind of information is available for each river.

From time to time, we try to act like grown ups and write down a few things, unanimusly condidered as useful knowledge.
There are articles about the conflicting subject of grading, a list of what a paddling team should carry in the river, or a few paddling tips to make your life easier.
In our Web Diamonds page there are also a few links, to instructional, safety and medical articles.

Let us know the rivers you run. You may post a very short account of your paddling activities, or you may know about our activity, in River Action page

A great source of information on Greek rivers, is the guide book "Greco" of F.Bettinger& J.Longden and of course the articles in "Korfes" outdoors magazine (in greek only), mostly by J.Holevas.
