18 Aug 04. Action day 2 for canoe kayak slalom here in Athens. Semifinals and finals for C1 and women's K1.

Michal Martikan (SVK) after ranking first at the prelimineries yesterday, kept leading in semifinals, while Estanguet with another great run, managed to keep the 2nd position. German paddler Pfannmoller presented a very fast ride, that even after hitting a gate, managed to reach third place, while Australian Robin Bell jumbed from the 12th to 4th place.

In the finals Martikan hit the 7th gate to loose the crusial time that sent him to 4th place and lost him the gold medal. Meanwhile, Pfannmoller and Bell make the fastest runs of the finals, fighting hard their way to the podium.
Points were counted and Estanguet-Martikan-Pfannmoller was the gold-silver-bronge medal positions.

In women's K1, Kaliska (SVK) was never threated and kept 1st rank at both races, while Dickens (FRA) and 1st day's leader Bongardt (GER) in a less perfect final run, lost their semifinals advantage to leave Giddens (USA) and Reeves (GBR) the silver and gold final rankings.
