HISTORY
THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF ITALIAN-AMERICAN SOCIETIES,INC. WAS FOUNDED IN 1964 AND INCORPORATED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK IN 1967.
IT IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT,CHARITABLE,COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATION.
IT IS DEDICATED TO "A TUTTI GLI ITALIANI NEL MONDO CHE NELLE GLORIOSE
TRADIZIONI DELLA LORO TERRA NATIA TROVANO LINCENTIVO ALL'EMULAZIONE E AL MIGLIORAMENTO DI SE STESSI E DEGLI ALTRI."
OUR MISSION IS: TO HELP AND ASSIST ALL NEEDY PEOPLE SO THAT THEY MAY SHARE IN THE AMERICAN DREAM.
Donations to the National Federation are tax exempt under IRS Code 501(c)3. Annual membership dues are $50 and $25 for each additional family member.

2006 Gala

The Thirty-Fifth Annual Fund Raising & Scholarship Gala was held at the El Caribe Country Club on Sunday, October 29, 2006. Ann Maresca, Esq. was honored as the recipient of the Successful Professional Award. Lenny Tilman, CEO of Lenco Diagnostic Laboratories received the Successful Businessman Award. The Humanitarian Award was presented to Dr. Thomas Romo III, a world renowned and respected facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Certificates and Scholarship Awards were presented to Linella Sparaco (Bishop Kearney H.S.), Angela Fiorito (Ft. Hamilton H.S.), Maria Ramaglia (Edward R. Morrow H.S.), Anthony Terzino (LaFayette H.S.), and Jennifer Reres (Fontbonne Academy). A special presentation for Excellence in Education was made to the Monfort Academy.

2007 Gala

ANNUAL DINNER-DANCE: The 36th Annual Dinner-Dance and Scholarship Gala took place on October 28, 2007 at the El Caribe Country Club. The occasion also celebrated the 43rd Anniversary of the foundation of the Federation in 1964 and the Italian Heritage and Culture Month in the State of New York. As in the past, this was a fabulous affair featuring a great assortment of fine food and music. Recognition was given to Dr. Marc Benhuri, recipient of the Professional Achievement Award, Michael Valleta, recipient of the Successful Businessman Award, and Arthur Aidala, recipient of the Humanitartian Award. In addition, individual scholarships were presented to Italian-American High School students who will pursue a college education. (See Gallery Photos)


2008 Gala

This year's Gala was held on Sunday, October 26th at the El Caribe Country Club in Brooklyn. 2008 Honorees were Ms. Karina Costantino,Superintendent of Schools in District 20, recipient of the PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD, and Mr. Matteo Zaccheo, President of C & M General Construction, recipient of the SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMAN AWARD. Scholarship Awards and Certificates were presented to the following High School graduate students SARAH REBECCA GAGLIO from Ft. Hamilton H.S., TERESA NAPOLI from Midwood H>S., JESSICA LOPEZ from Midwood H.S., JOSEPH NARDULLI from Ft. Hamilton H.S.all winners of the Italian-American Heritage Scholarships. Two of the above mentioned scholarships were presented IN MEMORIAM for our deceased members and Honorees Mr. Joseph Campagna and Dr. Giacomo Buscaino.
Federation's Knights and Dames medallions and Cerificates were presented to the Honorees together with Proclamations from Boro President Marty Marckowitz and State Senator Marty Golden.

Of special note is that by request of Dr. Arnaldo Ferraro, the President of the United States George W. Bush sent an official White House Proclamation for the celebration of Columbus Day in the United States.

VALENTINE DINNER-DANCE: The NFIAS Valentine Dinner-Dance took place on Friday, February 8, 2008 from 6:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. at JT's Restaurant located at 9703 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Over 50 members and guests enjoyed the festivities of the evening that included the induction of Honorees into the Knights and Dames Charitable Committee of the National Federation of Italian-American Societies, Inc. Honorees LUCRETIA REGINA-POTTER and LOIS M. De MITA were presented with Knights and Dames Medallions and rose bouquets.
