Donations to the National Federation are tax exempt under IRS Code 501(c)3. Annual membership dues are $50 and $25 for each additional family member.

2004 Gala

The National Federation of Italian American Societies held its 33rd Annual Fund Raising Gala last October celebrating the 40th Anniversary of its Foundation in 1964 by former Assemblyman Arnaldo A. Ferraro, Ph.D. Special guest of honor was the famous Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida who kindly accepted the invitation to participate in the most important function of the Italian Federation. The event was held in the beautiful El Caribe in Brooklyn, NY. The popular Italian actress recently added another activity to her international fame...the publication of a book with photographs of her numerous sculptures already famous in the field of art.

Other guests of honor were Dr. Giacomo Buscaino, a well known cardiologist in the community, who received the Federation's 2004 Humanitarian Award, and Mr. Richard Greco, President/Founder of the classic school Montfort Academy, recently appointed Assistant Secretary of the Navy by President George W. Bush, was the recipient of the 2004 Man of the Year of the National Federation.

Two local high school senior graduates, Joseph Fiorito and Daniel Soldano, received certificates and scholarships of Italian Heritage sponsored by the N.F.I.A.S. and offered by Pilo Arts.

Proclamations and other Legislative Resolutions were presented to the National Federation and to the guests of honor from NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg through his representative Thomas Herring, Chief of Staten Island Fire Department, NYC Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum through her representative Liza Kramer, and Brooklyn Boro President Marty Markowitz through his representative Bob Capano. NYS Senator Marty Golden and City Councilman Simcha Felder personally presented certificates to the guests of honor and the National Federation.

The new honorees received the medallion and insignia of Knights (Cavalieri) of the National Federation and were inducted and sworn into the special order together with the previous honorees by NYS Supreme Court Justice Joseph Maltese.

2005 Gala

The Thirty Fourth Annual Fund Raising & Scholarship Gala took place on Sunday, October 23, 2005 at the El Caribe Country Club. The event started with cocktails at 12 noon followed by dinner.
Celebrating the 41st Anniversary of the Foundation of the National Federation and the Italian Heritage and Culture Month, NFIAS honored Richard Saitta, MD (Professional Achievement Award), Ralph S. Vitiello (Successful Businessman Award), and "Goumba' Johnny" (Radio Personality of the Year Award). In addition, all the Italian-American Heritage Scholarship Recipients & Honorable Mention Applicants were recognized for their scholastic achievements. Entertainment was provided by "Sound on Sound."


2006 Gala

The Thirty-Fifth Annual Fund Raising & Scholarship Gala was held at the El Caribe Country Club on Sunday, October 29, 2006. Ann Maresca, Esq. was honored as the recipient of the Successful Professional Award. Lenny Tilman, CEO of Lenco Diagnostic Laboratories received the Successful Businessman Award. The Humanitarian Award was presented to Dr. Thomas Romo III, a world renowned and respected facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Certificates and Scholarship Awards were presented to Linella Sparaco (Bishop Kearney H.S.), Angela Fiorito (Ft. Hamilton H.S.), Maria Ramaglia (Edward R. Morrow H.S.), Anthony Terzino (LaFayette H.S.), and Jennifer Reres (Fontbonne Academy). A special presentation for Excellence in Education was made to the Monfort Academy.

2007 Gala

ANNUAL DINNER-DANCE: The 36th Annual Dinner-Dance and Scholarship Gala took place on October 28, 2007 at the El Caribe Country Club. The occasion also celebrated the 43rd Anniversary of the foundation of the Federation in 1964 and the Italian Heritage and Culture Month in the State of New York. As in the past, this was a fabulous affair featuring a great assortment of fine food and music. Recognition was given to Dr. Marc Benhuri, recipient of the Professional Achievement Award, Michael Valleta, recipient of the Successful Businessman Award, and Arthur Aidala, recipient of the Humanitartian Award. In addition, individual scholarships were presented to Italian-American High School students who will pursue a college education. (See Gallery Photos)


2008 Gala

This year's Gala will be held on Sunday, October 26th at the El Caribe Country Club in Brooklyn. Details to follow.

Of special note is that by request of Dr. Arnaldo Ferraro, the President of the United States George W. Bush sent an official White House Proclamation for the celebration of Columbus Day in the United States.

VALENTINE DINNER-DANCE: The NFIAS Valentine Dinner-Dance took place on Friday, February 8, 2008 from 6:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. at JT's Restaurant located at 9703 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Over 50 members and guests enjoyed the festivities of the evening that included the induction of Honorees into the Knights and Dames Charitable Committee of the National Federation of Italian-American Societies, Inc. Honorees LUCRETIA REGINA-POTTER and LOIS M. De MITA were presented with Knights and Dames Medallions and rose bouquets. (See Gallery Photos)
