American Inspection Society, Inc.

OUR HISTORY
___________
In 1971 a Group of Senior Inspectors in the Vessel and Piping Fabrication segment of the oil and gas industries and contractors perceived the need for a fellowship society specifically for their segment of operations. They formed and chartered the American Inspection Society in 1974. It is also referred to in this literature and by the membership, briefly as "A.I.S."
In the beginning, most of the functions were primarily social in nature as a fraternal order of inspectors. The needs of the industry kept evolving and changing, and so did the role of inspectors. The meetings became more exchange oriented, with the passing of technical information and new techniques of inspection. Thus, evolved a functional full-scope society, with training meetings, educational committees, and embracing all areas of inspection in its membership.
Today, the A.I.S. is moving forward to expand membership, and the educational role to it's membership, to stay abreast of new technology and the role of inspection. *Currently it is an organization of members and supporting sponsors promoting education, advancement, science, technology, application of inspection and quality assurance of energy products.* Committees are working with brother organizations - (ASNT, AWS, NACE, ASQ) to form joint training efforts.
