N S B Notes: Trinity.. Exclusive Devotion
SERVE ONE MASTER PRINCIPLE: “You cannot serve two masters. You will hate one and love the other. You will be loyal to one master and despise the other.” (Matthew 6:24) These are words spoken by Jesus Christ, in his famous Sermon on the Mount. Here you have the Son of God telling his followers to serve only one spirit person as their spiritual master.
This principle found at Matthew 6:24 also applies to serving a multiple of gods such as a Trinity. While Trinitarians claim that they do not believe in “three gods in one” they emphatically point out that they serve three spirit persons in one God. They divide their loyalty between these three persons in the one mysterious God. It appears that they give most of their attention to Jesus Christ, the second person in the alleged triune Godhead. Yet they attempt to serve two or three masters. Is this pleasing to God?
IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH: No this does not please God! God demands complete and exclusive devotion. God requires that we worship Him in truth. “But the hour comes and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father with spirit and truth. The Father seeks such people to worship him. God is a Spirit. They who worship him must worship him with spirit and truth.” (John 4:23, 24)
The Holy Scriptures present Jehovah God as the one and only God. “There are those called gods in heaven or on earth. There are many gods and many lords. But to us there is but one God, the Father. All things come from him and we live for him. And there is one Lord Jesus Christ. All things were made through him and we were made through him.” (1 Corinthians 8:5, 6)
GOD REQUIRES EXCLUSIVE DEVOTION: “Jehovah is a zealous God requiring exclusive devotion (tolorates no rivals).” (Nahum 1:2) “For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, even a totally demanding zealous God. (He requires exclusive devotion!) (Deuteronomy 4:24) The theory of “three gods in one” or “three spirit persons in one” does not respect God’s requirement for exclusive devotion stated at Deuteronomy 4:24, and it is not found in the Bible. There is only one true God, not three and not three persons in one God!
TEN COMMANDMENTS DEMAND EXCLUSIVE DEVOTION: Notice God’s absolute insistance on exclusive devotion in the Ten Commandments: “I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of slavery in Egypt. Do not have any other god. Do not make your own carved idols or statues that represent any creature in the sky, on the earth, or in the water. Do not worship them or serve them. I, Jehovah your God, am a God demanding exclusive devotion. (I do not tolerate rivals.) I will not share your affection with any other god.” (Exodus 20:2-5) Did you get that vital fact. God, the Almighty God said: “I will not share your affection with any other god!” Anyone you choose to worship is a god and that includes the three persons of the alleged Trinity!
JESUS CHRIST OBEYED GOD'S COMMANDMENTS: Jesus Christ recognized his Heavenly Father as a far greater spirit being then himself. “You heard me say I will go away and I will come again to you. If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father. The Father is greater than I!”…“The world must know that I love the Father. And I obey the Father’s commandments.” (John 14:28, 29) He even taught the first commandment to love the Father first and foremost. “Teacher what is the greatest commandment in the law?” Jesus told him: “You shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart (Greek: kardia: feelings, emotions), and with all your being, and with your entire mind (Greek: dianoia: understanding). (Deuteronomy 6:5) This is the greatest and first commandment.” (Matthew 22:36-38)
ANYONE YOU CHOOSE TO WORSHIP IS A GOD. THAT INCLUDES THE THREE PERSONS OF THE ALLEGED TRINITY!
