Area 51: Alien Breed ©2004 A New Quest Films Production
Created and Written by
Don Abernathy
Budget Goal: $5.5 million (Five Million Five Hundred Thousand USD)
Genre: Science Fiction (think The Thing meets The Terminator)
This genre lends itself to low-budget movie-making. It is a durable genre, and has been around for decades and shows no signs of abatement. This is a popular genre in the theatrical, rental and retail markets, as well as the cable television markets (USA Network, Sci-Fi Channel, TNN, etc.). Even premium cable outlets like Showtime, the Movie Channel, HBO and Cinemax have been showing very low budget features (“Play-mate of the Apes”, “Battle Queen 2020”) late at night. Our primary target audience is between the ages of 17 and 35. Fans of these genre films are hungry for “chills and thrills”, and we plan to deliver those with Area 51: Alien Breed.
Log Line:
A Las Vegas detective assigned to investigate an attack on a military vehicle carrying an unknown cargo reluctantly discovers an underground war between alien mutants over a secret weapon that could destroy mankind which lies in a military location infamously known as Area 51.
Synopsis
A covered military truck carrying an unknown cargo exits near the Las Vegas strip. As it travels toward a gas station, a searing sound pierces the air; a rocket missile has just launched and is seconds away from impact. Struck like a bolt of lightning the truck flips over. A dark van pulls up at high speed and swerves to a screeching stop. Four masked assailants with high powered guns swarm the damaged vehicle. Two quickly unload the boxed crate and store it in the back of the van. They speed off. Two military officers lay unconscious, but alive in the street.
RUSTY CARPENTER, a famous homicide detective is put on the case to investigate the death of the two military officers who were found dead on the scene of the truck heist; their bodies brutally mutilated by some unknown weapon. Rusty’s search leads him to JESSE, one of the female assailants. During an exhaustive interrogation, Rusty is told of an ongoing battle by two opposing alien species fighting to get possession of another alien; now being held in Area 51 who was sent to earth in the 1950’s to set the stage for an alien domination of earth and has in its possession a weapon that could destroy mankind. Jesse also insists that the two military officers were left alive at the scene. Reluctantly, Rusty begins to believe Jesse as supernatural events unfold including the use of a special rock that allows Rusty to see alien beings not visible to the naked eye, a deadly encounter with a humanoid (Ag3), and resistance from government officials to discuss incidents surrounding Area 51.
Rusty learns that Jesse is part of a second generation of super human extraterrestrials (Ag2’s) who have stolen an alien satellite and are trying to reprogram it in order to stop an even deadlier space cargo of third generation extraterrestrials from being guided to earth through a complex string of networked satellites that line up in strategic positions two galaxies away to their mother planet. Meanwhile, there is one all powerful AG3 or third generation alien that did make it to earth and is trying to release the original alien being held in Area 51. If the original alien, who controls the lone Ag3 on earth via alien telepathy, is allowed to escape and facilitate the landing the Ag3 cargo, mankind will be wiped out.
The lone Ag3 breaks into Area 51 in an epic victorious one person battle against the might of the U.S. military, but finds that the original alien has been relocated. Meanwhile, Jesse and Rusty form a plan to take control of the lone Ag3 using the technology found in the alien satellite, but time is running out as the space cargo nears the galaxy and the lone Ag3 on earth gets closer to finding the original alien.
In a final attempt to take control of the lone Ag3, Jesse and Rusty find the original alien, steal it away from the military and use it as bait to lure the Ag3 into a trap. If they can draw the Ag3 into the dangerously close proximity needed to activate the reprogramming device that short circuited on three out of five tests, Rusty will have to find a way to distract the all powerful Ag3 for a window of two minutes.
