The author would be very pleased to hear from anyone who would like to help in helping pay for the improvement in appearance of these published webpages for a year, and also the continued maintenance of this site including comment and communicational sections, and possible envisaged related sections.

Information.

The author will appreciatively advertise by W.W.W. banner ad or by dedicated site adwords of up to ten full V.D.U. lines before improvement (the latter is available immediately). Box words of five to twenty words is also offered (or a logo and a few words).

Within close proximity of the display of an advert or notice for any person or company would be displayed a brief statment, though comprehensive, that ADVERTS and NOTICES are wholly UNCONNECTED WITH the subject of the webpages on which this article and related material publicised here are displayed. And unless otherswise requested it should be displayed that notices and adverts also are UNCONNECTED with the article and if preferred also that there are NO UNSTATED SYMPATHIES from the advertisers or sponsors, or donator, whether a notice is requested additionally or not.

This would be so unless specifically support should be stated and requested to be displayed along with an advert or notice. I am very pleased to have support displayed as well. Or unconnectedly and without disassociating message show sponsors and donators names and messages.

The author will also compose adverts on request, and messages after a subject or suggestion.

Have you advertised your site? Perhaps you have a non-commercial site and you wish to advertise along with a one-off donation. Or perhaps you have a semi-commercial site and wish to advertise with continued advertising with a one-off fee. Do you wish to advertise a commercial site with an eyecatching long or short "adwords" entry or a "box words" advert, or a banner ad or enhanced banner ad, yours or newly composed? The one-off fee could be 20 dollars, 25, 30, 40, 50, or 60 or more (examples) and any amount in pounds or euros, it is up to you. You pay for what you get which is negotiable and likely to be very generous. The solicitation is for a period of a year and probably more than this with the one fee. This should be good and secure continuous low-priced linkage. Any amount of donation similarly will be happily received with huge thanks. This is not a profit making site.

Commercial and semi-commercial sites benefit from having adverts, comment and links on as many different types of site as you can. It seems to me that many of the big commercial advertisers know this, and to me it is a good thing that you are never safe from British Airways for example, on personal webpages.

This solicitation for advertising and private notices from sponsors (also donators welcome) is: each entry for display over a full year and more with one fee, this to be guaranteed non-stop conspicuous advertising notices on a genuine, public information non-commercial site by an independent author of an unexpected, "for the good" and reality article with communication pages and perhaps wider linked content, for over a year (basic notice of type and nature of contract terms - more specifics on request). Advertisers may request rotational advertising over various pages and time-rest advertising. A basic part of any agreement is that advertisers' entries and type(s) of advertisement, can be changed by the placer at any time during the agreed display period.

Company information, and society's or personal information or concerns may be displayed as advertising with direct W.W.W. links, website addresses (and if requested also, highlighted, eye-catching search terms and memorable words and phrases). This is not suggested pay-per-click advertising (no site-visiting or performance based advertising is offered), though should be very good priced as is for at least a year.

Did you find this article helpful or worthwhile or otherwise positive? If no, do you think others would find it helpful? Do you think there is a place for this genuine report, however surprising perhaps and perhaps socially marginal? Please consider a donation.

For advertisers, this is not a commercial site but there is anticipated constant genuine interest from hundreds of people weekly, and it is anticipated that these persons would return to the pages as they are at least once but more likely more often given the ntoification of development. It is the type of site anticipated to be communicated about by genuine readers to others. It is supposed that these persons would be willing to support those who support this site.

As adverts by Google Adwords for this page are displayed over months, and as the site develops a communicative element and perhaps widens as well from the nuclear point and concern to include similar situations, it is anticipated that the genuinely interested users will increase from hundreds weekly currently to over a thousand weekly. On pages with full text content, advertising and notices would stand out well and this should be emphasised in display in design.

Donators and sponsors may also receive a listing on the web pages and may write in up to ten lines a notice, anything of relevance, causes, concerns and links.

The author also offers continued advertising opportunities. It is anticipated that advertising references to this site will remain at this level at least and also that availability of these webpages should be much better in search engines, directories and links.

These pages are advertised by Google Adwords, though financial help is needed for this to continue.

Advertisement figures.

The adverts have been attaining an average of around thirty thousand display impressions in a week (during some of which time they have been limited to display in one country). Linkage by this means has been in the hundreds weekly, though this has not been maintained well in the past week.

Advertising data of these pages.

This requires financial assistance for secure placing. I can assure advertisers that advertising alone will attract hundreds of web users to at least the first page of these pages for most weeks within the next five or six weeks (28 June).

Search figures.

There follows an example of very simple manual search and directory and advertising examinations and the findings, an actual report, which was published earlier ths year, in the summer of 2005.

This example of the state of public availability of these pages in the W.W.W., and the changing retrievability of these webpages over a period earlier this year.

It includes some appeals from within the illumination of this report as to what may be needed.

This was the situation:

The pages are very often found on the first or second page of search results on most of the top W.W.W. search engines and many others, at the time of writing excluding Lycos, M.S.N. and Ask Jeeves, under some common relevant terms and often within five or sometimes ten pages with less common relevant terms. These will be maintained should positions drop within a maintenance notice period of around a fortnight usually.

28 June Update (further updates follow below):

This has deteriorated unexpectedly. It takes some effort to keep up with search engines movements. At the very least, for those moderately interested the site can be found indirectly within a few pages with medium relevance search terms via links on student sites mainly. It was not to be found easily today on two big search engines I have tried, 28 June, on excite.co.uk, aside from the student site links, and aolsearch.com provides a clear link on the tenth page with a medium relevance search term. Any help to pay search registration companies would be very welcome.

I am happy that these pages can be found via searching alone, setting aside enquiring into the busy information sites providing links, by persons who are interested enough in finding this, within one or two big sites and ten pages of each. This is the most necessary concern, though the situation is not ideal. A single advertising placement, or a donation, for 25 pounds is enough to maintain search engine placings alone for a good number of months so that there are not sudden periods where the information is not to be found within maybe 17 pages. I would hope to have the pages themselves listed within the first pages of most of the big sites once again and continuously.

Directories information.

Most often these require fees of anything from around four pounds or a bit less to around 30 pounds. Registration with directories is hoped for, though only a small handful have listed these pages so far. Please help.

Advertising data of these pages.

This requires financial assistance for secure placing. I can assure advertisers that the current advertising alone will attract hundreds of web users to at least the first page of these pages for most weeks within the next five or six weeks (written 28 June 2005).

Generally.

The recent search and advertising and directory situation will be improved. Advertising and donations would help greatly.

Update of 6 July.

Slightly improving Google performance with high relevance terms - 4th result on page two ("edinburgh university alternative prospectus"); First result exactseek.co.uk ("student opinion edinburgh university"); poor results yet in other engines, which previously gave good results within the first and second page.

10 July update.

Here are the total of the few search attempts this morning:

-Two direct links to the pages (search returns no.s 3 and 5) on the first page of searching on pegasus-searching.com;
And another reference from another site at number 9 on the first page, but no indirect link when I tried this page. (terms "edinburgh university alternative prospectus");
A further link to the front page, on the 4th page, the thirty-fifth result in the same first search.

No listing yet in Tower Search, which has nothing listed under Edinburgh University. Perhaps this search engine is where an anticipated ivory tower is. I wouldn't recognise Edinburgh either!

UK Yahoo
Indirect though simple and clear link shown with a good description shown on the search page, through a classified,
93 on page 10 ("student opinion guide edinburgh")

11 July.

Things are IMPROVING a bit after some recent concentration/
yahoo.com:
general though sapecifically related terms: "negative opinion university study":
Page 1 items 2 and 6, direct search links on the first page (to two different pages of the web pages).

Medium Relevance (Still Yahoo UK)
52 on page 6 (2nd result on page) direct search link to these pages
("study in scotland philosophy")
"poor universities": not on yahoo within around 13 pages

"UK university poor opinion":
pages direct referenced no.s 4 and 5 on first page on Yahoo
"UK university music study avoid":
Number 2 on page 1 of search, Yahoo.
"avoid university":
not found on yahoo (looked at under 20 pages)
"avoid university course Scotland":
page one yahoo direct link to webpages twice, entries 3 and 5.
"avoid this university course":
146 on page 15 yahoo direct link.

Google.com
same terms "avoid this university course" attempted on google.com this morning but no reference within 20 or so pages
On Google with these terms, although indirect link through post on student sites, directly accessed by one click with the link one further click away on at least one student site, no direct link within nearly 20 pages. (Similar results for "edinburgh university student prospectus" with google.com).

Finally.

Some poor results on the 11th.
"edinburgh university student guide"
nothing on excite
"edinburgh university student guide"
not on search.com within 20 pages
"scotland university opinion"
"scotland university guide" not on search.com in 15 pages
Also trying the four phrases above as search terms, no luck with search.com and metasearch.com google / kanoodle within over ten pages
and metasearch overture within over 10 pages.

End of solicitation and connected information.

Those whom know will tell you that "The China Syndrome" is nothing at all to do with nuclear energy in reality but perhaps does not even come close in its apparent "humourous" central hypothesis to describing another reality. At Edinburgh University, "The China Syndrome" has met the child catcher's lair of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." There are places with similarities but none like this.
