Matt was a 2001 graduate from Riverside High School. Riverside finished 2nd in their conference his senior year. Matt's High School baseball honors include the Scholar Athlete Award, PAC 2nd Team All-Conference, News Herald 2nd Team All-Conference, Plain Dealer All-Northeast Ohio, Offensive Player of the Year, and he was named to the Tri-County All-Star Team. During the summer of 2001, Matt played for the Diamond Boys Baseball Club and had the honor of being scouted by the L.A. Dodgers at the Ohio State Championships. Matt then attended Penn State Beaver Junior College in Monaca, PA. PSU Beaver was ranked 12th in the nation in the 2002 season, but their Junior College World Series hopes were haulted when they lost in the regional final. Matt was named WPCC Academic All-Conference and CCAC Academic All-Conference while attending PSU Beaver. Matt is now in his first year at Gannon University on a baseball scholarship. Gannon University is located in Erie, Pennsylvania and is a NCAA Division II affiliate. Matt will be starting centerfield and leading off for Gannon in the 2004 season.
