Cancer A real life story thats hard to believe!
Here is a story about the life of my family. At the age of seventeen I married my wife, twenty-one at the time. This was nearly fifteen years ago. After we were married for three weeks we found out that we were two weeks pregnant. We were extremely happy even though it was so soon. On May 28,1991 our first son was born. He was happy and healthy; or so we thought. When he was seven months old he became ill and his stomache started to become disfigured. After several test at Children's Hospital he was diagnosed with Wilms' Tumor. The tumor was located in his kidney, which was removed. Then came the months of chemotherapy and radiation. He has been in remission for ten years now.
As we went through chemo My wife became pregnant again but with all the upset from our oldest child she lost that baby at three and a half months of pregnacy. But, almost to the end of our sons illness we became pregnant one more time, with our second child. He was our healthy child. Then in March of two thousand, my wife became ill with kidney failure. She nearly died but was saved with dialysis. Being on dialysis is a hell in itself then nine days short of a year she recieved a kidney transplant. Of course feeling struck by lighting twice we tried to rebuild our life once more. The day she was released to return to work our youngest son started with high fever and pain in his neck and chest, then after a week of constant doctor visits we went to children's hospital because he didn't get better. They in turn did test which determined that he too had cancer(non-hodgkins lymphoma). He too would have to have chemo for two years. He has been off chemo for six months at this point. Hopefully that was it for us, but we've thought this several times before.
