SPURS ZONE

Spurs Zone - Where Spurs fans go to be in the Zone.

Today's Zone Headline:

Point Four

Most People would agree that you can't do much in life in point four seconds. Tell that to Derek Fisher, Tim Duncan or Tony Parker. After eighty-three regular season games the Spurs fell just short of first in the Western Conference. Settling for third and a home court series versus the surprise Memphis Grizzlies. The spurs were riding an eleven game winning streak and were hotter than ever. They socked the Grizz back to the off-season with an easy sweep. Then came L.A. The Spurs bursted out of the starting gates with two easy wins. Many said the Lakers were finished. Many were oh so very wrong. The crybabies of last year bounced back after two more games to tie the series up. Game five brought some of the best clutch shots basketball had ever witnessed. Tim Duncan made an unbelievable off-centered shot to take the lead by one with point four left on the clock. Point four, it seemed over. Point four, point four, point four. After three timeouts it was time. Gary Payton had the ball, Looking for Kobe, can't see him open. Theirs Fisher, he passes it in, Fisher turns, Fisher shoots, Fisher makes. The Spurs are in utter disbelieve. Tim stares at the scores table for a sign that the shot was no good. That sign would never come. Point four, point four, point four. One more game to go, but it proves too much for the Spurs to handle. Who would have thought point four could change so much. If the shot bounces out, the Spurs repeat as champions, but sadly something’s aren’t meant to be. On the brighter side, after this season the Lakers will be dismantled and the Spurs will have plenty of more chances. Just keep Horry, Rose, and find a new back-up point guard with the skills of Speedy Claxton and maybe another sharp shooter like Stephen Jackson. The Spurs can do it again, and they will. But for this season it ended with a shot, a shot that only took point four, point four, point four.
