Nang-Ta-Lum

In the past Nang-Ta-Lum marionettes were used as shadow puppets to entertain audiences in Thailand. These puppets were carved onto the strenched surfaces of water buffalo hides.

Today, Hollywood movies and television have mostly taken the place of Nang-Ta-Lum shadow puppet shows. The art of hide craving has almost died out in Thailand, but is making a comeback in the form of decorative pieces.

Modern decorative Nang-Ta-Lum looks great especially when framed as art and hung on the wall.
