Lacquerware is an ancient oriental craft, and entails a repeated process of coating structural bamboo with Lacquer before hand painting it with an elaborate 24K gold design. It often takes up to one month to complete a piece. Lacquerware has traditionally been used as jewelry boxes in Thailand. It also makes impressive accent pieces for home decoration.1.
