Meaning Five Colors in Thai (Benja= Five, rong= Color) is a hand painted enamel over glazed decorated ceramic. Bencharong Porcelain was originally made in China, with the assistance in design work of Siamese (Thai) artists. In the 18th Century Bencharong Porcelain was exclusively allowed to be used in the Royal Siam Court.Today, Bencharong Porcelain is hand crafted only in Thailand by skilled craftsmen and affordable for even the average person. Genuine Bencharong always has a Lotus Bud handle which immediately indicates that it's from Thailand.
Only the finest white clay is selected to produce their graceful beauty, Designs are hand painted, fired, accented with 18K gold and re-fired. Bencharong Porcelain is world renowned for its unique forms, designs, colors & beauty. They are of the finest quality and are recognized by collectors world-wide.
