THE NEW CD!

I was putting together music for the new CD, when I realized that I would have some extra space and decided to bring a few others along for the ride. The new CD has thirteen of my songs, along with eight additional songs from - friends and strangers! That's the reason behind the title of the CD! read on!.....

1."Monica Lewinsky" I wrote this song just days before I went on the Howard Stern Radio Show! my appearance there was videotaped and was a last minute addition to his debut CBS TV show the following Saturday!
2. "I Ain't That Kind Of Guy" Good bass lick! This song came to me in a dream. A very rockabilly-ish tune!
3. "Smoke Puff (the crazy car)" It's kind of Beach Boys style tune about a crazy cartoon car.
4. "Here We Go Again" A wild and crazy tune. This originally appeared on the soundtrack to the locally produced independant movie "Affairs". It is also found on the Best Of The Mid-Atlantic compilation.
5. "Where's My Friend" This song came to me when I was trying to learn Nirvana's "in Bloom". It is a dedication to the late Kurt Cobain. There's a brief live version at the end.
6. "We Did It Before(+we can do it again)" I recorded this in support of our troops in Desert Storm. You'll know this one - it's been used in dozens of Bugs Bunny cartoons.
7. "I Hate The Compact Discs" A re-write of an older tune of mine, "I Hate The Video Games"........(ain't I a rebel?)......This song aired on the nationally syndicated Doctor Demento radio show.
8. "Erhebung" I wrote this piano piece while waiting to join a band on stage. Erhebung..that's the name of the band.
9. "Sit Sing and Play" I don't know,... I was waiting to pull out onto a highway, a truck zoomed passed me, and this is what I started singing into my tape recorder. it's kind of a Beach Boys style tune...
10. "I Guess I'll Have To Do It Myself" (ever get that feeling?) Me, on all instruments and vocals (+a fast drum machine)
11. "When I Get Home To You(NYC Buss.man)" This is a song off my first album, "Self Made Man". It has me on all instruments and vocals. Some say it reminds them of "Well Respected Man" by The Kinks.
12. "Spin Spin" This is one of my favorite tunes to play on piano. It's just so fruitfull! (me too!).
13. "The Wanna Be Song" This song and the previous song are from my live album, "Never Had To Unplug" This lively song has always been a crowd pleaser.

Now we get to the 'friends and strangers' part;

14. The Refugees - "Guilotene Gene". This was from a tape I recieved in 1993. The members have an impressive resume. They've worked with the likes of Holly and The Italians, XTC, Sham 69, Water Boys, and more. They're from England.
15. Stupid Gurl - "Get On Up". This is another tape I had laying around. A young kid, about 16, from California sent me this. It's kind of like early '70's SWEET
16. Joggyn Smyler - "Big Babboon". A local artist, self entrepeneur. This song is kind of a poor man's BECK
17. Phil Stahl - "So Far Gone". What can I say? This man isn't the king of the local scene, he is the local scene. I've always said that with out him, I wouldn''t be where I am, or who I am today! check out his webpage at: www.songshop.com
18. Trixie - "The Final Justice". Someone I've met while playing at an open stage. She plays out solo, as part of Dream Catcher, and also Rhyme and Reason. Kind of progressive, kind of acoustic.
19. Nick Douglas - "Just One Kiss". This man toured Germany as a backing musician to DORO. Now he's off on his own with his own album. Reminicent at times of DEPECHE MODE.
20. The Accidentals - "Rudianna". I had to bring a little bit of class into this compilation! But, this one is kind of cute! It is all accapella!
21. Halestorm - "No Clue". Another act I've met at an open stage. A brother and sister. On this recording, he's 10, she's 13! (+ their dad on fretless bass). This is a swing style tune!

And that's the whole story! There's plenty of left-overs in my files, so I/we can expect that I'll do another one like this sometime soon! There's been only 100 made so far!
