WHERE WE ARE
On an Island approximately 16 miles from the public access at the North end of Sturgeon Lake.
80 miles north of Ignace, Ontario, Canada, and approximately 400 miles north of Duluth Minnesota.
Good paved roads will bring you all but the last mile to the Public Landing.
If you call ahead, someone will meet you at the landing and guide you to the resort.
OUR LOCATION
Mousseauls Island Resort is located on an Island with a beautiful sand beach and a very protected Harbour.
Cabins are supplied with the dishes, pots, pans, fridge, stove, sheets and pillows. Bring your own sleeping bag and personal towel. The centrally located shower house has flush toilets.
For those with a sense of history or adventure, take a day to explore former Indian village sites, the location of the Hudson Bay Co. Trading Post, the Indian pictographs, and the numerous abandoned gold mines.
WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER
Some of the best fishing in N.W. Ontario. We don’t know of any other boat-in Resort that offers the same opportunity for Trophy catches. It takes a big Lake to grow an endless supply of big fish and Sturgeon Lake is big. It’s 52 miles long, covers 50,000 acres, and is 305 feet deep.
Because of the many long, narrow fingers in the North end of the Lake, there are over 800 miles of shoreline, not counting the Islands. This vast amount of shoreline provides a much higher fish population than is found in the average Lake. Mousseau's Island Resort is located in the middle of these narrow fingers, so fishing is possible even in windy conditions.
We also have boats on several great Walleye Lakes just a short portage away.
MOOSE HUNTING
A limited number of Bull and Cow licences are offered to rifle hunters. Calf licences are usually available. Moose hunts include 7 nights lodging, all meals, boat & motor and 1 day of guiding.

FALL PARTRIDGE & GROUSE HUNTING
The woods around Sturgeon Lake are full of partridge and grouse and miles of remote trails make hunting easy. Bring your 4-wheeler.
MEALS
A new screened Gazebo, with full cooking facilities, overlooks the Lake ans is perfect for Parties, Meetings and Dining for up to 35 persons.
Evening meals are served Family style in the Lodge or Gazebo for $18.00 per person. Other meals will be served at the menu prices. Homemade bread and Carmel rolls are our specialty.
Also featured are our Walleye Wednesdays. Full American Plan is $150.00 per person per day, boat & motor.(minimum of 2 person per boat)
Guides are available on request.
New parties of 4 or more will receive 8 hours of free guiding.
All process are in U.S. funds
Canadian taxes apply
We encourage catch and release and catch and consume. There is a $25.00 per person charge for those who take back more than a Trophy Fish. Ask about family rates and after August 1st and discount rates for Lake Trout and Northern fishing before Walleye opener.
TWICE A YEAR
Sturgeon Lake offers a very special treat; shallow water Lake Trout fishing. At ice out, Lake Trout are found on the shallow water. They are hungry, aggressive, and will hit on almost any spoon or diving lure you can cast to them. In the fall, Trout come to the shallows to spawn. Throw small heavy spoons, spinners or spinner baits around the rocky reefs near deep water. In shallow water, Lake Trout run like Salmon and fight like Bass.
