IN MEMORY OF CAROL KILLED BY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Carol Irene Brumfield Sowards was killed on June 26, 1998. She was a victim of domestic violence. She was 33 yrears old with 4 children; Roy Christopher Sowards, Crystal Renae Sowards, Melissa Dawn Sowards, Amber Nicole Sowards along with her husband Leroy Gerald Sowards. Carol also left behind two sisters; Vicki Lynn Brumfield and Linda Sue Gibbs; and our Mother Frances Irene McAllister. Her neices and nephews loved her dearly. Carol was a funloving person. A great mother, sister, and daughter.
Carol had lived with a man for approximately 1 1/2 years. He would give her black eyes and she would leave him and then go back later. He would promise her the world. The last time she left she stayed away for 2 months. He promised that they would stop drinking and that lasted for a couple weeks. within a month she was dead! She was hit in the head with something. She died of Blunt Trauma to the head. The man got off with only 6 months! He plea bargain down to Negligent Homocide. Now he lives in the area and is going on with his life and now our sister, mother, daughter is gone.
PLEASE, IF YOU ARE IN A RELATIONSHIP THAT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS GOING ON, PLEASE.....GET OUT NOW!!!
