Mohan, a Malaysian by nationality has since 1979 worked with International Hospitality Brands like the Sheraton, Hyatt Regency, Carlton, Ramada, Novotel, Park Plaza and the Ascott Group in Singapore. He has held various senior positions like Vice President Business Development, Owners Consultant & Representative and General Manager since 1992 and has over 25 years of International Hospitality Experience worldwide in Serviced Apartments, International Hotels, Resorts, Real Estate and Corporate Leasing.
His International Hospitality and Real Estate career has taken him to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar( Burma ), Indonesia, United Kingdom, Spain & Portugal.
Mohan has completed his G.C.E ‘O’ Levels (U.K.) from the prestigious St. Joseph’s College, an outstanding Boarding School managed then by Irish brothers and located in the blue mountains of (Coonoor - in India) and in 2002 a Financial Management Course for General Managers from the National University of Singapore. He also attempted and completed a 3 year Bachelor of Science Degree with Chemistry as Major from the Madras University in India.
Being an overall multi talented individual in 1974 he has managed to have his name secured on the prominent walls of the St.Joseph’s College along with other leaders of the Institution dating back to the 18th century! Mohan was Chairman of the English Literary, Arts and Debating society of this prestigious academy from 1972 for two years.
He has been an active Ordinary & Executive member with several International Business Associations in Malaysia, Vietnam & Myanmar, namely The Johor Tourist Association(Executive Member), American Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Vietnam Business Group, Singapore Business Group & Singapore Association of Myanmar (Vice President), Malaysian Association of Myanmar & Malaysian Business Council
(Executive Member)and The Indian Chamber of Commerce.
Mohan was also elected to the Executive Committee of the Parent Advisory Council of the International School of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam with International students and teachers from over 40 countries – his two children were also attending the same school.
With his flair for fine food & beverage and fellowship with distinguished people from the local communities in Malaysia & Singapore, he became a member of the “CHAINE DES ROTISSEURS” and has held the title of “MAITRE DE TABLE RESTAURATEUR” since 1996.
Mohan is fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Indian languages like Hindi, Tamil & Malayalam and with a fair understanding of French, Arabic and Filipino.
He is a high caliber self motivated individual, who has many years of proven Hospitality pre opening experience and with a particular flair to turning around ailing assets. His accomplishments in Vietnam with the Ascott Group of Singapore ( Capitaland’s listed arm of Serviced Residences in Singapore ) while managing their Serviced Residence, Mohan consistently maintained a 70% Gross Operating Profit with over 85% Occupancy for their properties.
Mohan was applauded by the Ascott Group of Singapore and the Vietnamese Board of Directors for turning the company (Somerset Ho Chi Minh City) from the Red to the Black after just over one year of his taking over the helm as General Manager of the property.
Notably his recent assignment in Yangon, Myanmar as General Manager of the Summit Parkview Hotel ( Singapore Technologies first International owned hotel in Myanmar ) was a huge success as he managed to not only bring up the occupancy and average room rate of the property, he also worked aggressively to put the ailing hotel on the hospitality scene in Myanmar.
After completing his contract with the Ascott Group since December 2003 as General Manager of the Summit Parkview Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar, Mohan is currently representing several Independent Investors from Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
He now lives in the United States where his wife works as a Registered Nurse.The couple's 19 year old daughter lives and studies in London while their 9 year old son goes to school in the States.
